Bic does not show when it should.

David Nay said: This is a case of membership records needing to be updated since patron submitted records are not recorded ordinances. This is really a positive step in the right direction for accuracy.0

st week, 20 apr and 27 apr which are still pending reply. Do I get better response by calling than by making a case via email..0 -
Gordon Collett said: I doubt calling would be any quicker. The first e-mail is always just that the request has been forwarded to the proper department for review. Also, I think it would be much easier to type the ID numbers than to recite them over the phone.
I've sent in three or four dozen of these requests since Family Tree opened and it seem that it always takes at least a month, sometimes a couple of weeks longer, for BIC to appear on the record.0 -
Stephen Jorgensen Kelsey said: I do not understand why it should take so long to correct these. This appears to me to be something which could easily be automated and handled without having to create each case individually. Merely checking the parents' sealing date and their childrens' birthdates and marking the children BIC does not seem difficult to automate. Why are these missing from membership records in the first place?1

David Nay said: People are involved, subject to human weakness and priorities, and even though we live in an age of instant gratification and automation they are not free and come with a cost. I assure you these important processes and decisions are made prayerfully and with a lot of thought for the current and future ramifications. Please continue to report any missing BIC you discover. It is appreciated!0

Ron Tanner said: This is not a simple fix Family Tree. These are ordinances and BIC comes from membership so there must be corrected or added membership records and validation that sealings were done before births. This is done by the membership department and we have sent 1000s to them for fixing. Please be patient.0

Why are children BIC not labeled as such? Isn't there an algorithm that needs to be made to correct this issue? It isn't a matter of how hard people are already working to make the system function. It is a matter of adding unnecessary work to our already busy temples when BIC isn't linked properly and those SP are unnecessarily offered to patrons. We are most appreciative of the incredible work, the prayers, and the costs that are involved, which is why designing an algorithm to correct this shortcoming would more than "pay" for itself. Today I have found no less than 5 families that don't have all their children linked to their parents' temple marriages. That's just today. This new, very cumbersome discussion board process may help for simple things such as "how do I sign into FS," or " how do I get an account," or even more difficult questions about merging processes, but it is discouraging to get temple corrections handled.

For whatever reason, as you can see in the earlier posts here, this is something that, for whatever reason, cannot be automated or the authorities over such things, which would be the church temple committee, are not giving permission for it to be automated.
Early in the history of Family Tree, back in 2013 or so, I ran through all the parents and children in my family lines that were members of the church and found everyone that needed BIC added, both those that showed a sealing was needed and those that had a date where the sealing had unnecessarily been done, and sent in requests. It really didn't take that long to find everyone. Within a few months, support had added all of them and they have remained fixed. So this is a one time effort.
It great to see that so many people who have never gotten around to really working in Family Tree are finally in there, finding these needed additions of BIC, and are getting them fixed. The current procedure of posting a request to the Temple section of Q and A works just fine. A couple of months ago I was going through the family of my father's sister's husband, which would have not been part of my original survey, and found that he had a sister that needed BIC added. I posted the request there and in about six weeks it was taken care of. All they need posted is Please add BIC to John Smith ID XXXX-XXX.
This is also a good illustration that people really need to be taught to take the time when an ordinance pops up in Ordinances Ready to go to that person's page, check around, see who the person is, and see if the ordinance is really needed or not. Right there in Ordinances Ready is the link; "Learn about ...." which makes this easy to do.
