I agree with you, my family is a shambles from people entering names incorrectly and then not being able to even suggest a correct or review. There is an edit button and yet it says not available.

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
It sounds like that you are referring to, "Historical Records", in the "Search Records" Part, of 'FamilySearch', rather than, for individuals/persons, in the "Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch'.
With a few exceptions (eg. "Read-Only" Persons), the "Details" of, ALL individuals/persons, in the 'Family Tree" Part, of 'FamilySearch', can be "Edited".
Whereas, very few, of the "Indexed" records, of the "Historical Records", in the "Search Records" Part, of 'FamilySearch', can be "Edited", there is ONLY a Limited number that can.
Most of the time. there is NO need, to "Edit", the "Details", of the "Indexed" records, of the "Historical Records", in the "Search Records" Part, of 'FamilySearch'; but, of course, generally, due to "Transcription Errors", in the Process of "Indexing", errors do occur, there may be some that need to be corrected.
But ...
That Said ...
IF, the "Indexed" record, of the "Historical Records", in the "Search Records" Part, of 'FamilySearch', HAS been 'Transcribed' correctly; THEN, the "Indexed" record DOES NOT need to "Edited", just because the ACTUAL "Image" (ie. Document) of the "Historical Record", is spelt wrong.
"Historical Records", in the "Search Records" Part, of 'FamilySearch', SHOULD be 'Transcribed'; as, they appear in the "Image" (ie. Document) of the "Historical Record", NOT how they are in life.
Now ...
That Said ...
Remember:
Unfortunately, very few, of the "Indexed" records, of the "Historical Records", in the "Search Records" Part, of 'FamilySearch', can be "Edited"; even, if there is a 'Transcription Error', there is ONLY a Limited number that can.
As such ...
IF; one finds an ACTUAL 'Transcription Error", in an "Indexed" record, of a "Historical Record", in the "Search Records" Part, of 'FamilySearch'; and, there is NO "Edit" function (to correct, such); THEN, currently, all that one can do, is to make a Note of the ERROR in the, "Title"; and, "Notes", fields, of the "Source", that is the BEST way to alert OTHER User/Patrons of the "Transcription Error".
Just my thoughts.

Why can't I fix indexing or transcription errors?
https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/why-cant-i-fix-indexing-or-transcription-errors
How do I correct indexing errors in historical records?
I hope these help. somewaht.
