Need to improve image link to findmypast
When trying to view an image on the 1851 census for England & Wales . . . I am redirected to the findmypast web site . . . where coincidently I do have a subscription . . . why cannot the search criteria automatically be entered into the findmypast screen . . . or even better - the entire original seach from familysearch be transposed to findmypast to display the findmypast search results . . . enabling subscribers to immediately view any images or for non-subscribers to choose to subscribe or not. As it is at the moment, when transferred to findmypast, the findmypast recognises me as a subscriber - but I then have to navigate to the particular census option, fill in the details and do the search in findmypast. This needs to be improved . . . in my view.

About time we responded to you! You are right that this is a long process for both members and nonmembers of findmypast.
This process is necessary with little or no change possible in the existing process because of affiliate site contractual issues with findmypast. We contract to do the indexing and they hold the images forever or for a specific number of years. This process occurs with many holders of the original records as parishes, organizations, governments, etc.
We consider it a small inconvenience, though more costly to our patrons, in getting the actual record. The patron knows where the record can be found and how much it will cost and they can make the choice. We are grateful findmypast will make the records available to more and more people.
I hope this is reply is helpful and thank you for your feedback. Please contact us again with any concerns, questions, or suggestions. Thanks and have a super day!0 -
Even if I navigate to the correct record, I still cannot view it. It's as if I don't have a subscription, but I know it is current.

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
IF, you DO have a "Paid" or Other Subscription to "FindMyPast.co,uk" [ "FindMyPast.com" ]; THEN, ...
Question:
HAVE you "Connected", your 'FamilySearch' Account, to that of the Partner Website of, "FindMyPast"?
https://www.familysearch.org/campaign/partneraccess/
IF, you have "Connected", your 'FamilySearch' Account, to that of the Partner Website of, "FindMyPast"; THEN, such (ie. "Connection") would appear in your 'FamilySearch' Account, in "Settings", under the "Permissions" 'Tab'.
Settings
Permissions Tab
I hope this helps.
