Who do these pictures belong to?
I have been offered a photo album by a friend in another country (Australia), which contains pictures of early members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My friend found the album in an antique bookstore in Hobart and, although she is of another faith, felt that it should be returned either to the Church or to the family to whom it belongs. The main question I have is if all the photos are of one family, or if they are pictures of early converts, leaders, and missionaries. The pictures appear to be from the mid 1800s to around maybe 1930, based on two of the names she has provided. One name is a note written to another person by A. Theo Johnson of Vernal Utah (1900s). The other name is Elizabeth Cherry Hodden (records indicate possibly residing in Ephraim, UT in the late 1800s). The name on the front cover is Fox & Symons, and another name on maybe the back of a picture is C.R. Savage Art Bazar. One more name at the bottom of a picture shows "Edlund Stockholm. I don't know if the Edlund is a location name, or the last name of a person.
My friend has indicated that the album is fragile given it's age, but she is willing to mail it to me. My concern is that I don't want to harm the already fragile pictures, so I want to make sure I get these to the correct person(s). Alternatively, I am checking to see if any of the pictures have any historical significance for the early LDS Church records. I have 12 to 13 pictures, but I can only upload 10.
Please see the attached pictures and let me know if anyone recognizes any of these or the names.

We have a Church History Records Preservation Centre in Sydney Australia and a Church History Specialist in Hobart Tasmania. If these photos relate to members in Tasmania we would be interested in checking the contents and preserving this album. We could also check any names against the Early Missionary Database. Personally I think the Church Archives (Church History Library) would be the best place to contact concerning these records and their ultimate fate

Thanks and good day to you. That would be appreciated and I understand that no promises can be made.

Thanks, and I tried that earlier today. They are closed due to COVID 19 and suggested I use this forum. They did mention Research Wiki; although, to be honest, I can't figure that thing out. I see too many options, and not one for asking a question of a genealogist. I have also reached out to the BYU historical center and I am waiting a call back from them.

I still think they should be the place it goes to . . .

you should try to contact an archivist or person high up in the org
not just the average person answering the emails . . .
I will send you a contact privately.

also - would be good to do a reverse image search on those images.
BUT better "straight on" images would work much better for that
instead of these angled images.

I agree that "straight on" would be much better.

Great story. It’s wonderful that you are trying to find the family. Did you try contacting one of Andrew Theo Johnson’s ancestors.

I haven't looked for descendants of his family yet, as I'm not certain the picture is of him. It may simply be a note he wrote to the person on the photo. Having said that, I have followed a couple of leads which include the other names. We'll see how those play out.

Looks like the family is still living in Utah. I found some direct relatives on ancestory and have sent them a message. Will see what they say.

Thank you. A local member gave me an email address. I will email some zip files so you can look over everything I got, and I'll explain more in the email. After seeing all the pictures provided to me if you believe there is a connection, I can reach out to my friend to see if she would be willing to meet with you. After the COVID virus lock downs are lifted of course.

Thank you all for your help and efforts. I am a novice at genealogy, even though my family has done this for a while. Your recommendations have provided great leads and there are currently Church members working with genealogy looking at these. I am confident these pictures with find their home. Thanks again.
