New uploading process for Memories in FamilySearch!
FamilySearch has updated the process for uploading Memories in the FamilySearch Tree.
Users will now go through a series of steps as they upload their memories. These steps are necessary as FamilySearch is expanding and upgrading tools, like Family Group Trees. Privacy and visibility questions are included.
For now, you will only see these updates when you upload memories in the FamilySearch Tree: from a Person page, click the “Memories” tab under the person’s name, then click “Add Memories.”
Soon, this updated process will be available in the Memories Gallery. Later, we can expect to see this tool in other areas of FamilySearch.
Additionally, privacy and visibility questions are now included as you Tag Memories.
If you have any questions or experience any difficulties, please provide feedback in the Memory Feedback group.

Here are the new prompts you can expect to see as you upload memories:
This new process for uploading Memories is available only from a Person’s page on the FamilySearch Tree. It is not yet available in the Gallery.
If you select many files (photos/documents), you can add details later.
Additionally, when you use the Tag function in the Memory Viewer, you will be asked to verify the Visibility setting.

Not sure why this change was made, it was fine before. As before, when we uploaded a memory from our 'device', the title or heading we gave it was automatically transfer to the title or heading in the memory on FamilySearch, but from what I have just experienced we have to add that title or heading in again even when I have checked "Use file names as titles". It seems more work or steps we now have to make each time we add a memory. IF changes are continuing to be made, PLEASE let us patrons know ahead of time and for our benefit. THANK YOU!

In answer to your concerns:
Though change is often not ideal, the recent changes in the uploading Memories process were necessary, as are the visibility and privacy questions. We appreciate your patience with these changes.
And you are right about the “Use file names as titles” check box not working (as seen on the “Add Photo or Document” prompt page). I will add this to our list of Known Issues.
Thanks for sharing this BUG. We appreciate the feedback!

I don't know if my problem is a result of this change: I have some year/s ago uploaded a photo of a married couple at both their identities (KNXD-RRQ and KJ5C-36K) in the tree. I also used the photo to catch profile photos of each of them to the top of their pages. The profile photos still are there, but the photo as a whole has disappeared. It says Memories(1) but when opening the memory it is completely empty. When I tried again to upload the photo, I was denied, because the photo already is in my gallery. But when I very carefully look through all the photos in my gallery it isn't there anymore. What has happened and what should I do? As this is the only photo, of this couple and they have a great number of descendants I really want all of those to get access to the photo.

@MargaretaBjorck I am able to see this photo just fine on the mobile Family Tree app, so clearly the photo is safely stored on FamilySearch. Hopefully that gives you some comfort that nothing is lost. So it seems like this must be a temporary problem on the website.
