sources auto-copied from Ancestry to FamilySearch broken again

source citations auto-copied from Ancestry to FamilySearch using the link between the two programs is broken again today (26 Sep 2024), resulting in broken links. A URL is written, but following it results in "not available". This has happened before as well, then worked as recently as yesterday, but something broke again today.

An example: all of the sources written today by Ancestry for Albina Deguire GB89-8C5, for example http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll%3Fdbid=1091&h=4019801&indiv=try —gives that result. This is particularly concerning because a user might assume that since a URL was written, it works—-but it doesn't.

The only way I've found to correct it is to revisit the original source on Ancestry and copy THAT URL over the one written into Familysearch's source.

A better option is to use the Ancestry Share Link allowing anyone to see the record used from Ancestry, even those without a subscription.

hmm.. that doesn't sound good either, but it's a different problem than the one I reported, which results in a citation and a web link, but the link itself is broken. I've also reported it to FS support, but it's too early for a resolution yet, unless someone responds that it's a known problem and they've already been working on it. fingers crossed.

"A better option is to use the Ancestry Share Link…"

Aine, thanks for the suggestion; I'll try to find that thread.

That thread is linked above, @brs, with a link to the how-to for the share link.
