I am an English speaker but can read quite a bit of French. Should I translate the French entries for occupation and place of employment or enter them in French?

I think the reason the instructions are so uselessly silent about this question is that they assume an overarching principle (which they've forgotten to actually state anywhere): index what you see.

Or, to go at it slightly differently: unless specifically told otherwise, we don't expand abbreviations or correct mistakes. Not making translations (unless specifically directed to) is a natural continuation of that.

Okay. Thanks for the reminder. It's a bit confusing in this project as the availability of French entries in the drop down lists varies so we are required to choose English and can't force the system to accept the French entries. Also the field instructions for Occupation state to enter "Blank" for None but no instructions for "Aucun".
