Can I keep recommended tasks from appearing on my home page?
Hello!
I am being overwhelmed with recommended tasks (i.e., "record hints"). I no sooner review a dozen or more, "ignore" them, and go back to my home page only to have ANOTHER dozen or more new ones listed. Virtually ALL of these people have absolutely NO CONNECTION to my family or its history.
Is there anyway to block or otherwise turn off the "recommended tasks" so that they do NOT appear?

No.
However, you can feel free to not pay attention to it. There is no reason you need to work on any of those task if you have higher priorities in Family Tree right now. View them as something to spend five minutes on when you are standing in line somewhere rather than playing solitaire on your phone.
Keep in mind that because Family Tree is a shared tree, all these hints in the task list will disappear eventually as the other few hundred or thousand users who get the same hints attach them.
It does seem a bit strange, however, that you have a bunch of hints for people you are not related to. I thought the list only had relatives. Some lists in Family Tree do include people on our Recents lists whether relatives or not, but I didn't think this one did. When I check through mine, that certainly seems to be the case. Can you double check and confirm this? Just go to your task list and click through the list one at a time and for each person click View My Relationship:
How many show a relationship and how may say "No Relationship Found"?

Thank you for your answer!
I'll be honest, I didn't click on "view relationship" for the people I said aren't related to my family before I "ignored" them, since the last names were "foreign" (ha!,ha!) to me. Following your suggestion, I've done so on the current list of people on my recommended tasks list, and they ARE related (we're talking 7th great-grand aunt, 6th great-grandfather, etc.-folks living in the 1700s). Since my family's last names have been consistent since at least the mid-1850s, I guess I assumed that that only those names were ever only used, conveniently forgetting all the marriages that had to have occurred prior to that time of differently-named people.

The task list does stretch out a bit. I should have mentioned that many of the people you can see on my list are spouses of various sorts of cousins. So I have no idea who they are until I check to see the relationship.
One of the reasons I don't do much in my Tasks list is because I am not currently working on those 1700s records and to drop what I am working on and spend hours trying to figure out if hints that far back are accurate or not is not a very efficient use of my time.

Your task list will show the most closely related individuals first and the best value in looking at it is to see if a new collection comes available. The example being that I finished all the hints on my grandparents and great-grandparents several years ago, but since the 1950 cenus came out, they have all shown up again with hints to them in the 1950 census. So, while you can ignore the tasks (so very easily on the new Home page). I would check back periodically to see if some new database is released that has information on nearer ancestors/relatives or on the ones that you are particularly researching on.
