More details for connection requests

I recently received a notice in my account general messages that "[name] would like to connect!" The only options were connect and share posts, or don't connect. No details about why they want to connect with me, no option to view our relationship, no link to find out more about them. I will not agree to a connection blindly. This appears to be a separate feature from actual messaging, which works well. I do not understand its purpose or its value. Please add more context to this feature.

This is still a problem feature. This week a new unknown person appeared in my friends requests as well as in message alerts, with a name and photo but no other identifying information like "view my relationship" or an actual message from the person explaining how they found me and why they want to connect. I deleted the request as I do for unwelcome flirtations on social media. Is anyone listening?
