the 1871 UK Census for my relative Catherine Ann Hunter M4JH-631 has an unfinished attachment for the person Eoner Turner. The name should be Eleanor Turner her maternal grand-mother (mother-in-law of the head of the household). How do I attach this record to Eleanor Turner? I have also come across this problem where the family had a boarder living with them at the time of the census and I dont appear to be able to finish the attachment.

Advice appreciated

If the record has a person who can't be attached to a family, such as a boarder, you can just "dismiss" the unfinished attachments message.

If there is a person who should be added, but isn't visible, you can "change" the focus person until the correct person does become visible.

I'm sure Norm's screenshots illustrated his response very well, but placing images here remains a great difficulty for many of us.

However, I would agree with his suggestion of making Eleanor (Eoner) Turner the focus person, making it then easy to attach the source to her ID. However, if you can't find an ID for her, either leave it and come back at a later date, or "dismiss" as Norm suggests.
