Does FamilySearch block people in some countries from accessing the website?
Someone asked as they had been told that FamilySearch will not allow people from some countries to access the website.
Is this true?

This is a different question. I am asking not if countries block the site.
I am asking if FamilySearch refuses access to people in some countries of the world.
If so why and which countries.

As you can see from Chas Howell's answer on the other discussion, yes, FS blocks users from Japan, because of that country's draconian privacy laws. It's not clear whether FS blocks users from Russia or just strongly discourages them. As far as I can tell, those are the only two countries specifically mentioned in FS's documents.

I saw they were the only countries mentioned.
So FamilySearch only blocks Japan.
But recommends it not be used in Russia.
Thanks

@JVance1, I think you are putting works in other's mouths. We stated what we theorized and what was published. Your conclusions are your conclusions, Both our statements had modifiers. May I ask what country you are concerned about? Have you been affected by any FS policy in this regard? (apologies to Julia if I misunderstood your comments)

Chas is correct: JVance's conclusion about Russia is not at all what I wrote.
