AUTO-FILL PLACE NAMES
What happened to the AUTO-FILL PLACE NAMES on the 'SEARCH' and 'FIND' screens?
Please bring this back. Thanks

??
The search input fields have never "auto-filled", and I emphatically don't want them to, because that would preclude the use of wildcards and other useful techniques -- assuming that FamilySearch ever fixes the place fields in its indexed records database. (Autostandardization has corrupted the file to the point where it is currently useless to try to search it by place. You also can't take its word on any placename it shows you in the search results.)

Saint Mary The Virgin Church, Blackburn, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom does not come up as a place name.
What does appear is Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. Blackburn Cathedral became the designation of the Saint Mary The Virgin Church parish church in 1923 when the Blackburn Diocese was created.
Place names that should be available are:
Saint Mary The Virgin Church, Blackburn, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom (1801-1923)
Blackburn Cathedral, Blackburn, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom (1923 ... )

Sorry, I did not mean to say 'autofill' place names. . I meant when searching for a person on the FIND page, there is no drop down place names to choose from. I just now listened to David Rencher's ZOOM meeting about what's new in Family Search. (nice job) I chatted this suggestion. He replied that there IS a drop down list of possible matching place names but this is incorrect. There is no drop down place name suggestion list. I do not have pop up blockers and tried a search using Chrome and Firefox, NO drop down place name list appears. This would be a great time saver. Ancestry.com uses this for searching persons.
"Need place names drop down options on FIND a person page"

The person in the zoom meeting was probably assuming that you were talking about entering a conclusion on a person's profile. There is a drop-down there, as part of the process that FS calls "standardization".
I don't think being forced to choose an existing database entry would be an improvement to any of the search interfaces. They have instituted such a requirement in the index-correction function, and it blocks corrections when the transcription is incorrect but the exact location referred to cannot be determined without fully researching the person and his or her family.

Suggestion for David Rencher or FS engineer? Suggestion for Find or Search for a person in FamilySearch. Please include location options in drop down box. Thanks.
Here is an example: when I search for a person in Ancestry.com a drop down box showing possible location choices is given. Attached snip.

@wb23gen, that setup is the exact opposite of what I want or expect in a search interface. I should not need to know what state my "Plainfield" is in in order to search for records containing it. If I knew the state, I would use the filters, not a search field.

Like @wb23gen I too used to see auto-completion in the placename fields on Search and Find. Now, I am seeing usually wrong autocorrect hints on the personal name fields. I think my web browser is involved.
