    @seabs

    Has the problem been resolved for you? Or are you still having accessibility issues?

    It would be nice to know what UK parishes are not available to view the original especially as transcriptions can be wrong

    Great. But the records I need are on micro FICHE. Is there any plan to digitize those records?

    @Psychee_DMI

    From the end of the blog article: "FamilySearch is also working to outsource the digitization of its large microfiche collection, which should be completed several years from now."

    Hello,

    I seem to have run into a dead end. If all the records are digitized, why do I see little film icons next to some of the resources? E.g., there are 10 microfilms listed here as being in the  Granite Mountain Record Vault (deeds of Warren County, Ohio) with ***no digital access* option: https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/303984?availability=Family%20History%20Library

    The catalog indicates these are all microfilms, not microfiche.

    Thanks!

    @laurelnaiad

    All the microfilm have been digitally preserved. However, not all the microfilm are available digitally. The format in which they are available to view is based on the contracts with the record custodians. If you see that there are microfilms listed as the method for viewing, then that is how that collection is available to view based on contracts.

    Hi Amy,

    I understand that in some cases there may be contractual limitations, but this makes no sense in this case. If you look at the catalog entries, the ones which are not available should not have any distinction from the ones that are available. They are all from the same custodian: "Warren County courthouse in Lebanon, Ohio." There are available records as late as "Deeds v. 91-92 1907-1910". The ones which are not available seem somewhat random, and all *much* earlier than 1907-1910.

    Why would there be a separate contract for "Index grantor/grantee v. 5-6 1848-1866" than there is for "Index grantor/grantee v. 3-4 1831-1848" and "Index grantor/grantee v. 7-8 1859-1871"?

    Why would there be a separate contract for "Deeds v. 15-16 1830-1832" than "Deeds v. 17-18 1832-1834"?

    One pattern seems to be that those which are listed as "United States & Canada 2nd Floor Film" are made available, and those listed as "United States & Canada Film" are not.

    Another pattern is that ones not available all begin with the numbers "819xxxx".

    I have seen mention that there are known to be errors in publishing where some films have not been released by mistake.

    I can't imagine that 2 index volumes in the middle of the series and a smattering of deed books in the series are licensed differently than the rest of the series.

    Are you sure this is a contractual/licensing issue?

    I have located 1800's enrollment records for a large orphanage in St Louis that do not appear to be in the Family Search collection. How do I contact those still digitizing records?
