ability to unsubscribe from birthday notifications

It seems birthday/anniversary notifications are tied to hints about my ancestors but I am requesting they be uncombined so we can have more granular choice of notifications.

I would still like to receive hints about my ancestors but I would like to stop receiving “birthday” and anniversary notifications for ancestors that are long gone.

    @Tracy Walbaum

    Tracy

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

Please be, aware; and, advised, that ...

Those "Birthday"/"Anniversary" NOTIFICATIONS, are part, of "Campaigns", by, 'FamilySearch'.

    [ ie. To engender participation ... ]

    Now ...

    That Said ...

As far as I am aware ...

One, CANNOT, "Opt Out", of such individual "Campaigns".

    Unfortunately ...

It is a matter, of one has to "Opt Out", of ALL such "Campaigns".

    So ...

    That Said ...

Just in case, you were not aware ...

Regarding, "Opting Out", of ALL such "Campaigns" ...

Such can be applied (ie. "Turned OFF") , through one's "Settings", of one's 'FamilySearch' Account ...

Under the "Notifications" 'Tab'; further down under to "Email Messages"; then, "Turning OFF", the one for:

    Discoveries about My Ancestors

    Pictorially

    image.png

I know, that this certainly does not help/assist, in regard to those "Birthday"/"Anniversary" NOTIFICATIONS.

But, I hope, that is may help/assist somewhat; and, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective.

I do not want FamilySearch Notifications about celebrating my ancestors’ known birthdates, anniversaries, Homeland Discovery or generic information about the places they lived.  I do not want a summary of the information I can already see in their FamilySearch file.  I only want FamilySearch Notifications of source documents or Record Hints on ancestors, especially those whose FamilySearch file lacks birth, christening, or marriage information, so I and other researchers can differentiate them from similarly-named persons. How do I set FamilySearch Notifications to do this “Notify me of source documents or Record Hints only”? If FamilySearch can’t do this, please add this request to the “capabilities to be computer-coded”. Thank you.

    @SourceSeeker43

This is an old thread that you have resuscitated.

I believe you can unsubscribe from calendar notifications in several manners:

    1. https://www.familysearch.org/campaign/calendar - use the UNSUBSCRIBE option (apparently when the campaign came out you subscribed?).
    2. Login to FamilySearch. Click the Bell icon (Notifications)> SHOW ALL NOTIFICATIONS> Select one of the notifications you wish to prevent> select SET NOTIFICATION FREQUENCY> select a different frequency or NEVER> Submit that change.

Record Hint Notifications are received at:

    New home page:

    https://www.familysearch.org/eurona/feed/tasks

The new page feature is far superior to the old page (👍️ FamilySearch).

    Old home page:

in the Hints widget (right-hand column about quarter down - or the second widget down)

Thank you. I did that. It keeps coming back.

I also want to unsubscribe from Homeland Discoveries, and generic information about the places they lived - I can't find any way to do that.

If FamilySearch can’t do this, how can I add this request to the “capabilities to be computer-coded”.

Again, thank you. I deeply appreciate all the "here's how to do it" info that I can get.

@SourceSeeker43 If you did that and you keep getting those notifications perhaps something is wrong with your account. I would recommend you flag your own post (click that Flag icon lower left) and in the Report include that your want FamilySearch representative follow-up. Or you can just Contact them (help icon - circle with question mark upper right - and hopefully a phone option for you - option for account help).

You can find other Notification options to disable in Settings - just disable everthing you don't want (which sounds pretty much like everything.

If that still doesn't work - to request the more granular control of only receiving Record Hints - Suggest an Idea

    Good luck!
