Religion records text msgs and nothing there
Hello,
Anyone else baffled by receiving Text messages from FamilySrarch.org stating Religious Records found. And when you log in using a mobile device there is either nothing there OR like with my Grandmother, multiple “Similar found” for the same person appear with the record already attached.
Something is busted with that text broadcast and I should not have to say STOP for something that has worked in the past.
Thank you,
John Gilbert Amero

This email link revealed the lineage but now it doesn't, how can I restore the original link?
That is a "Campaign", by 'FamilySearch':
Discover Your [ Whichever Ancestor ] in Religious Records
https://www.familysearch.org/campaign/religiousrecords
Hm ...
Not much good to me, personally; as, ALL such "Records", were ALREADY "Attached", to the x20 individuals/persons ...
[ I will just have to "Wait"; UNTIL, that particular "Campaign" is, "Refreshed"; and, repopulated with a NEW batch ... ]
Now ...
That Said ...
And, here, I am NOT referencing, the validity of ANY "Link", that may or may not be working.
But ...
That Said ...
There appears to be, a DISCREPANCY (and, hence CONFLICT), of HOW the various messages, are received; between, the ORIGINAL Computer "Web" version, of 'FamilySearch'; and, the "Mobile" Application, of 'FamilySearch', most probably; CAUSING, problems/issues.
EXAMPLE:
(1) ORIGINAL Computer "Web" version, of 'FamilySearch'
You are possibly receiving such; as, a "Text Message", if you have ENABLED, the receiving of "Text Messages", in the "Settings", of your 'FamilySearch' Account.
Although, that particular "Setting" ONLY references:
Messages from Other Users
Receive a text message when another user messages you through FamilySearch.
And, NOT the MANY Other messages ...
Email Messages
FamilySearch Information
Receive emails that contain tips, inspiration, news, and Rootstech Information.
Discoveries about My Ancestors
Receive personalized emails about your ancestors.
Messages from Other Users
Receive email when another user messages you through FamilySearch.
Receive and Offer Help
Allow me to receive an invitation from a helper, or send an invitation to help others.
Shared Temple Ordinances
Allow others to share temple opportunities with you.
Family Groups
Receive emails related to group activity.
ie.
It would appear, that "Setting@, to Enable the receipt, of "Text Messages" (via. a Mobile Device); through, the ORIGINAL Computer "Web" version, of 'FamilySearch', MAY cover ALL of the above - like it or not.
WHEREAS ...
(2) "Mobile" Application, of 'FamilySearch'
The "Mobile" Application, of 'FamilySearch', is much More COMPLEX ...
Settings ...
Subscriptions ...
Notifications ...
Hm ...
.
TOTALLY Different ...
Hence, possible DISCREPANCY; due to, the CONFLICTS ...
That is a matter, that definitely NEEDS to be investigated; and, addressed/fixed.
Just my thoughts.
I know, that this does not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective.

@John Gilbert Amero - I think that link is spam. To my knowledge, FamilySearch uses only FamilySearch.org.
If you have clicked on that link and tried to sign into FamilySearch from there, please reset your password as soon as you can.
Here is an article from Apple describing how to recognize spam messages like this and how to report them.
Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams

It's 'Brett'.
Just in passing ...
'NO' ...
I DO NOT think, that the "Link", in the "Text Message", of ... familysearch.me/religious ... is SPAM ...
For a change, I was rather 'Game' ...
I tried BOTH:
familysearch.me
It took me DIRECTLY to 'FamilySearch' ...
familysearch.me/religious
It took me DIRECTLY to the aforementioned "Campaign" ...
I would humbly suggest, such is quite legit ...
Just my thoughts.

@Brett . - You are braver than I. I agree. I was wrong. Not spam.
@John Gilbert Amero - I apologize if my answer upset you.

It is not spam. This is part of a marketing campaign that is released this weekend. Those who have signed up for text messages or WhatsApp notifications received their messages today, 14 January 2022. Emails will go out to other users on Sunday, 16 January 2022. Here is the direct campaign link: https://www.familysearch.org/campaign/religiousrecords

Just in passing ...
'Yes', we have already established such is a NEW "Campaign" ...
And, that the actual "Link" of ...familysearch.me/religious ... is NOT "Spam" ...
'Thank You' for the information, regarding the 'Dates' of the "Release" ...
But ...
That Said ...
There MUST have been some Users/Patron, who received PRE-RELEASE ...
As, one of the first posts, on the problems/issues, with the NEW "Campaign", was on Monday, 10 Jan. 2022

YOU ASKED ME A QUESTION
https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/113349/you-asked-me-a-question
Furthermore ...
There definitely appears to have been a problem/issue regarding the "Link" to that NEW "Campaign"; especially, for those in the PRE-RELEASE ...
Lets hope, that the problem/issue has been rectified ...
Now ...
That Said ...
The Problem/Issue, that I referenced above, regarding the possible DISCREPANCY; due to, the CONFLICTS, of HOW the various messages, are received; between, the ORIGINAL Computer "Web" version, of 'FamilySearch'; and, the "Mobile" Application, of 'FamilySearch', most probably is CAUSING problems/issues, that REALLY (in fact, "Definitely") NEEDS to be, investigated; and, addressed/fixed.
As such ...
Hopefully, a "Moderator" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" ( Personnel ) ], can take this (and, the "Related") posts, into the working of 'FamilySearch' "Support", to FORWARD the matter to the relevant Department; which, WHERE such WILL need to go, to BOTH, the Team for the ORIGINAL Computer "Web" version, of 'FamilySearch'; and, the Team responsible for the "Mobile" Application, of 'FamilySearch'; as, there is CONFLICT between the two programmes.
Just my thoughts.
Brett

Wow.
@PiperWilson Thank you and you are smarter than I am because you are correct I should not have tapped on that hyperlink. They drill it into our heads at work DO NOT CLICK LINKS WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHO IT'S FROM. You Piper did the right thing and I did not. You keep up the great work!
@Brett . I'll first apologize. I did search before posting but was finding nothing quickly and so I posted. Your posts are way to long for me to digest. Can you answer the following for me?
1 - Is this functionality working as designed?
2 - What are the known issues so far?
Other than that I appreciate very much all the information and I will review it all.
@Amy Archibald Hello Amy. Forgive me, but I am presuming you work for FamilySearch. If you do not then hopefully someone from FamilySearch will see this too.
PiperWilson is 100% correct. No one. Not one human being should click on a link and be taken to a website it's very bad. How bad? It's continues to groom others for predators. Grooming victims for predators is what I told a prestigious health system they did when they spam messaged patients that they had the Covid vaccine and if this was John then please tap here to schedule a visit. I ignored it. A week later another text this time asking me to verify with a YES for I am John Amero or NO I am not John or STOP to stop the text messages.
By then I was enraged. 25 years in Healthcare IT and this organization just spammed patients like that. I discovered the text was not approved by IT but championed by the doctors. I emailed a VP and told them this would hit the news if it ever happened again. I received no response. So I texted the VP the same message from a Google Voice number they did not know I had. The VP replied to my text with YES.
The VP of a major health system replied YES to my question of who they were using the same words they used on patients. I SCAMMED THE VP WITH THEIR OWN WORDS.
They now know to never ever do that again.
FamilySearch.org can send us text messages if we flip those switches. But there should be no hyperlinks and no requests of STOP. There should be only the following: New Information about Religious Records are awaiting you in familysearch.org Please go to the site and log in.
By making the users go start the website they control the clicks.
As for the health system, they can text us patients but they too should only say:
New information about Covid Vaccinations exists in your Patient Portal. Go to your Patient Portal and log in to see this new information. To opt out of these messages go to your Patient Portal, log in and go to Settings and Notifications.
No human should ever click on a hyperlink or respond to a text message not sent by a phone number they do not recognize. Which means only respond to texts from family and friends.
@PiperWilson You protected yourself and your family. You did it 100% correctly by ignoring it and not clicking the link. All others were groomed by FamilySearch for predators to give up their information.

@CJTobler Hello. I am presuming you work for FamilySearch.org. You should read my post above this one detailing how FamilySearch is grooming people for predators. I'm sure the predators would all thank FamilySearch.org for it too if they were not predators.
