Can't search records but can search everything else

I labored with this for two weeks. Got my super-smart husband working on this and this is what solved my problem. We have an ad-blocker set-up on our home network and he had to white-list "split.io". That cleared up the problem.
So go into your white list and add "split.io" to it and it should work.

When you say you can't search records, what exactly does that mean? What sort of error do you get, and at what step?
Have you tried a different browser? If that works, make sure your original browser is up to date, clear your cache (not just cookies), and if that's still not enough, see if turning off any plugins helps.

Yes I tried all of that. Thanks though.

I have had similar problems with 'search records' not working - just a blank page is displayed - for about a week now.
(I have tried other browsers, etc.)
Today the 'find' functions isn't working either - just a blank page again.
(This was working yesterday).
Thanks.

Right, you have done the usually recommended (first) thing ...
"Cleared", the "cookies"; and, the "Cache", of your "Browser" ... To NO avail ..
Now ...
That Said ...
What about the AGE of your Computer; and, the versions of BOTH, the "Operating System"; and, "Browsers".
Many of the functions, of 'FamilySearch', do not always properly work, with the OLDER Model Computers.
And, there are ONLY handful of "Browsers", that 'FamilySearch' fully supports.
Plus, 'FamilySearch' only really supports the, LATEST; and, the PREVIOUS, versions of, "Browsers"; and, "Operating Systems".
Foe example ...
I am using the "Browsers" of, principally, 'Google' "Chrome"; then, 'Mozilla' "FireFox"; and, if needs be, 'Microsoft' "Edge", ALL with the "Operating System" of "Windows "; and, ALL with the LATEST version of each.
And, I am NOT experiencing the problems/issue that you are.
Another thing ... "Pop-Up Blockers" can cause problems/issues ...
As such ...
Just in case ...
Here are some "Knowledge Articles", in 'FamilySearch':
Which internet browsers are compatible?
https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/which-internet-browsers-are-compatible
I got a message that the site does not support this browser
Plus ...
Pages won't open on FamilySearch
https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/pages-wont-open-on-familysearch
How do I keep pop-up blockers from causing issues?
Good Luck.
I hope, that this may help/assist, somewhat.

search records not working

.
That you are "... having to temporarily use an old pc with windows vista ..."
In light of my previous 'Comment', in this post ...
And, I am certainly NO authority/expert ...
But ...
That Said ...
'Yes', I would humbly suggest, that the combination of, the OLD Computer; and, the OLD "Operating System", of "Windows Vista", is certainly, in fact, definitely, your REAL problem/issue, causing some functions, of "Family Tree", of 'FamilySearch', NOT working properly.
Just my thoughts.
I know, that this certainly does not help/assist; but, I hope, that this may provide you with, some additional, insight; and, perspective.
