Record hints phasing out?
In the past, there has been a great way to find relatives who have record hints when using the website by going to https://www.familysearch.org/campaign/hints , however when I went there just recently, it seems there are almost no hints there. So I logged into my wife's account, just to test, and it seems there are almost none there either on her side of the family.
I've taught members of my ward how to use that site to find record hints in the past, and even helped someone find a person they could take to the temple using those. And I've even done a video showing people how to use those hints to find people. As well as finding literally hundreds of people that way. Are we still going to be able to find hints there, or are they phasing that out, and we would just have to use puzzilla or some other method?
I do notice that on the mobile app, there is still the tasks section (website hints equivalent), and that seems to populate just fine, but I really enjoy the website more than trying to do research on a mobile device (I like too many tabs open, I think).

The campaigns tend to be static, occasional features designed to get people interested in their family. They are not designed to be used for long. Hints are not going anywhere but that old campaign about them may or may not ever be updated.
The best place to find hints of a similar variety is on your personal dashboard on your Recommended Task list. That list of hints is pretty much never ending:
Another place to check is you fan chart. FamilySearch recently dumped the new 17,000,000 record Norway Church Books index into the hint engine and part of my wife's fan chart, which was completely white now looks like this:
Or go back a few generations and look a descendancy chart:
You'll find hints all over the place.

I also miss the campaign for record hints. You mentioned that you know the app has tasks, but it is hard to use the app to actually attach the hints. Th Family Tree app and the FamilySearch website are synced. Go to the Descendants with Tasks in the app for an ancestor. Choose one of the record hints, and bring up that Person in the app. Then go a FamilySearch on a browser on your computer. Choose Recents, and that same ID number will be on top. The record hints will be there and can be attached as usual. When you've completed all the hints for that ancestor, open the app again to the ID where you started using Recents on the app. The ID will usually be the second one, unless you have moved to other ID numbers. The list will populate again, and the one you just completed will no longer appear. I like to start in the 1700's and choose 5 generations. Hope you will give it a try!
