source sub folders?
Hi
I think that the source box needs to be able to have subfolders, some people organize their main folders with family last names but this takes up all the allotted folders as names down the family tree can change frequently as daughters get married and big families exist. I was given the suggestion to do the folders alphabetically which helps to keep things according to the alphabet so you know where to look first but I still think that if one does it this way it would be faster and easier if you would allow subfolders in those main folders for organization sake. The Lord's gospel is supposed to be very organized, and how can we be like him if there is not enough room in the sources to be just as organized?

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Great suggested enhancement.
But ...
That Said ...
Please be aware, that is not a NEW suggested enhancement, such has been one of MANY suggested enhancements, to the "Source Box", on numerous occasions, over the Years.
The "Source Box" has been in "Dire" NEED of "Enhancement" for a very long time...MANY; Many; many, Years.
MANY of us have been WAITING (really, "Hanging-Out") for enhancements to the "Source Box".
The original concept of the "Source Box" was; as, a TEMPORARY "Storage" facility, for "Sources", to be attached.
Whereas ...
Over the years, MANY Users/Patrons use (ie. have made), the "Source Box"; as, a (more) PERMANENT "Storage" facility, for "Sources", not just to be attached; but, also for those already attached.
There are 'pros' and 'cons', on both sides, of the "Debate", regarding the use of the "Source Box"; as, either, a TEMPORARY; as opposed to, a PERMANENT, "Storage" facility, for "Sources" - no need to go there.
One thing, that was enhanced, in the "Source Box", was that the Number of "Folder" was increased, from just x50, to now x200.
Now ...
That Said ...
Just so that you are aware ...
We have recently been advised, by an "official 'FamilySearch' Representative", that 'FamilySearch' is, FINALLY, currently working on several enhancements to the "Source Box", which by some is considered long overdue.

And, later, in that same post, a list of what is being worked on; and, a request for any OTHER suggested enhancements.

Plus ...
I recently took a 'look' in the "Beta" (ie. "Test") Environment, of 'FamilySearch'.
https://beta.familysearch.org/
To access the "Beta" (ie. "Test") Environment, of 'FamilySearch', simply "Sign In" with your normal 'FamilySearch' credentials (ie. User Name; and, Password) .
And, have no fear ...
Any "Changes", that you make, to "Data", in the "Beta" (ie. "Test") Environment, of 'FamilySearch', will NOT be reflected in the "Production" (ie."Live") Environment.
The "Beta" (ie. "Test") Environment, of 'FamilySearch', is basically a "Sand Box", for us, to play around in/with; and/or, explore (ie. any NEW forthcoming features/facilities/functions); and/or, also to do "Testing", just to 'see' what happens, if we do ... 'this or that' ▬ WITHOUT ruining what is in "Production" (ie."Live") Environment (ie. the real live, important, "Data").
There are significant "Changes", to the "Source Box", in the "Beta" (ie. "Test") Environment, of 'FamilySearch', well worth the 'look'.
https://beta.familysearch.org/tree/sources/sourceBox
Hm ...
Apart from the "General" appearance ...
Things like:
▬ NO Pages (ie. ONE "Continuous" List)
▬ Search Tile
▬ Filters
▬ ▬ Source Types
▬ ▬ ▬ FamilySearch
▬ ▬ ▬ User Created
▬ ▬ ▬ Memory
▬ ▬ Show Date Ranges
▬ ▬ ▬ Show All
▬ ▬ ▬ Sources with No Dates
▬ ▬ ▬ Date Range
Unfortunately, no ability/provision to create "Sub-Folders" ... may still be in 'Design' and 'Development'
[ We can only but live in hope ... ]
And ...
As an aside ...
Also, unfortunately, I could not get the "Search" (nor, the "Filters") to work; but, then, again, I have MANY; Many; many, "Sources", in my "Source Box", than was ever originally intended/envisaged.
Anyway ...
I am just letting you know, that there are 'changes afoot', for the "Source Box" ... 'in train'; as, we speak ...
I know, that this might not help/assist; but, I hope that this gives you some, insight; and, perspective.
Brett
ps: We can live in hope ...

Thank you Brett for your reply on my question. So, I understand that there is still no ability to create subfolders, but that they might come in the future. I think I need subfolders to get the source box more organised. Thanks again this answer was very useful.
