    Hello bonniesamuel1

Go to familysearch.org. On the first page, in the upper right, you will be asked to sign in or create an account. Choose Create Account and use yourself as the starting person. Add your living relatives. Then add your parents, grandparents, etc. When you add the deceased relatives, if they are already in the tree, then your line will automatically populate with those ancestors. Please know that only you will see the living people in your tree. The program will then use the information you have provided to search for sources on your ancestors, all for free! I wish you the best as you start this exciting journey!

The FamilySearch tree is a single collaborative tree. You can add someone or a family not related to anyone in tree by clicking on Recents and then Add Unconnected Person.
