Adding an adopted child

Added my living father to his parents tonight. Big red explanation mark. I'm sure this is due to date difference between their marriage of 2/26/1936 and his birthdate of 10/29/1935. He was adopted by Richard William Douglass in the state of Arkansas. His id number is G8J4-LKJ. Not sure how to show this or reference this in the software. Any help would be appreciated. Just wanted to connect to my family tree for the Douglass family.

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    FYI

We will NOT be able to 'see' your "Living" Father.

Your "Living" Father will be in your "Private Spaces" ONLY 'see' and accessible to you.

NO other User/Patron will be able to 'see' or access your "Living" Father.

    Now ...

    That Said ...

The 'Red' "Exclamation Mark" indicates a "Data Problem".

And, such would NOT be; because, your Father, was Born, before, his 'Biological' Parents were Married.

That "Data Problem" could simply be; because, you have either,

    (1) Added an "Invalid Character" in his "Name"; and/or,

    (2) NOT "Standardised" either, (a) a 'Date'; and/or, (b) a 'Place'.

On the 'right-hand-side', of your Father's, "Person/Details" page/screen, under "Research Help" (at the top) ...

Question: What does the "Data Problem" indicate?

And, just to be clear ...

Your Father will have Two (x2) sets of Parents; being,

    (1) Biological; and,

    (2) Adopted.

Have you set, the correct 'Type' of "Parent-Child" Relationship, for the respective sets of Parents for you Father?

Here are some "Knowledge Articles" in 'FamilySearch':

Take a look through those "Knowledge Articles".

And, follow the steps in any that may sort out you problem.

    Good luck.

    I hope this helps, somewhat.

ps: IF, none of those "Knowledge Articles" address your situation/circumstance; THEN, come back here in this post of yours, with an explanation of what seems to be the problem/issue.

In the right hand column under Research Help where the red exclamation mark icon is, what does it say when you click on it?

This is what you need to look at:

If the statement doesn't make sense or you are not sure how to fix this, post what you see and someone here can explain.

Note two things about this birth date error. It can be dismissed which will remove the red exclamation point. Also, if a child's relationship flag is set to adopted, you never get this type of date error:

In this test example I created on the Beta site, there is no data error even though the adoptive father and the son are born just one year apart because of that Adopted flag.
