Can't seem to find the "Help Others" link
Hi,
I want to help my friend with his Family Tree (since I've been having so much fun building mine!). He sent me his Helper Number, but I can't find where to put it in so I can access his tree and start helping him.
Is this restricted only to members of the church? I don't have a church account, just a regular one and same with him.

Is there a way I can start a second tree in my account, create my friend and his (living) parents as private records, then link them to the public "Person" objects of his (deceased) grandparents?
Or should I just get him to send me the IDs of his four grandparents' Person pages, bookmark them, then work on each branch individually (since once I have the person I can see a tree centred on them)

As the above article states, you can add a non-relative to your tree and add information for that family, etc. Basically doing research for someone not related to you. Your ID numbers of living people will be different from your friend's due to privacy reasons. Hope this helps.

Only members of the church can use this feature. Here is an article about it.

I can't access that link - it says "This page contains information for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Church membership can be linked to your account at registration or by going to your Account Settings"
So even the link you provided to answer my question is sadly not available to folks like me :(

The answer given above is correct. If you had been able to open the article its says, in essence
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can use the Help Others link.
Keep in mind that you can each see the same deceased persons, but access to living has restrictions.
