So disappointing ... it sure looked like what was written on the marriage record. I did not find Michov in church records. I found it when I searched Ellis Island records. Then I put that name through genteam.at ....and found that. I wonder if it is possible he was born in a different village ... and then moved to Mnichovo Hradisto .... I'll see what I can find ... would rather do this than just about anything ... so much more relaxing.

That image that I posted earlier with the arrow was from a school registration record for one of their daughters, it wasn't from a marriage record. I tried to see if other records from other children might be there to see if the parents hometowns were written again, but the records were only for 2 years.
Based on the birth records I mentioned earlier that I scanned there were no Petrlik's in there.

Hey Susan, First let me ask you a question not regarding Czec Republic. Have you ever used this Lutheran Church records site called Archion? I am seeking a birth record of my 2nd great grandfather and he was from the city of Kassel (Cassel) Germany. He was born in 1845, he emmigrated to the US (Erie Pa) in 1865. But I was just wondering if you have used that site before?
Well I have been continuing to look for, and failing miserably, for both Josef Petrlik (Michov) and Josef Riedl (Bezděkov) with no luck. I must say it is very frustrating when you know a birth towns
name and still cant find them.
I did find a marriage record for Ondrej Metalec and Ann Lutowski (1/28/1840). I was wondering if you could translate just the Brides "Box". I would like to confirm what you feel her parents names are and any other info in that box that you feel is relevant.

Sorry no experience with Lutheran records. Here is my best take on the brides record
Anna daughter of Wojtech Lutowski of Libejice and Anny daughter of Tomass Cimbelky of Zelec
It is frustrating when you know the birth towns. It could be there are multiple records for these towns and they have not all been digitized.
The name Wojtech is a stretch ...I cannot find any name that comes close to looking like that writing.

I've been having problems connecting to this site for some reason, but thank you for the translation help. I believe the first name is Vojtech, We had that from a previous record. I did find a birth record for Anne Lutowske(y)

We had one record that you thought Anne Lutowske's mother was named Anny Cinbukhove and this is another spelling of Cinbukhove??
The town of Zelec has me scratching my head, I looked at other towns for the church that Libejice is in, but didn't see it.

Perhaps it is a matter of whether recorder was Czech or had German influence which is why sometimes they spell Vojtech with a V rather than a W. As for the town Zelec ... that was kind of a guess. I found Libejice on map.cz and found Zelec ... I could be wrong ...the handwriting was good it did tend to tale off at the end. I'll take another look at Cinbukhove ... remember the spelling end does change with the father ... the woman is usually ending with ova .... in this script the letter e looks like the letter n. Can make it confusing. Sometimes when I have a confusion I put down both spellings ...using one as the main one and then a note with the alternate. I'll take a look at Anna Lutowske(y). The names are usually Anna ... and Anny. That's been my experience ... I don't know why. Back later.

I lost my comment. I found Zelec south of Libejice on mapy.cz As for Cinbukhove it looks like Cymbulka ... or Cymbelka ... sort of sounds better as Cymbelka. Maybe you could find the name in an index.
As for Vojtech ...I have seen it with a V and with W. Assume both is correct. My husband's name is Vince. I had a German aunt who would always call him Winny. You could choose one spelling and then be consistent. I have printed out records that I wanted to keep ... needless to say I have several binders. Even printed out Ellis Island records ... you cannot print directly but you can take a picture of them and print that. I moved about a year and half ago ... and truthfully disposed of many records I had printed ...not the major ones. I was downsizing and knew I would not have the storage space. If you decide to do something you could print out copies of the major surnames to show how they were written. Someday someone might be interested ... or not. I have put my trees on ancestry which also allows you to add photographs and other records. You do not need to be a member of ancestry.com to do that either. They would like you to be a member ... but offer the service to entice you into a membership.

I went back and looked at the church which Libejice is in and I must have missed this, but I found a town with those records named Radimovice u Želce, I wonder if that is the town. Need to head out for awhile, I'll have to check back, the best I will find is possibly a marriage record of Vojtech Lutowske and Anny Cinbukhove

Although that town is listed elsewhere in the records and only shows up as the one word. Good luck with the marriage record. You can also check on www.mapy.cz and see where that village is located compared to Libejice.

I agree with you Betseylee ... first glance it appears to be ooo but then when you look closely you can almost see the v.
Sometimes a second or third glance helps to make it clearer ... and then look at other records written by the same person ... they usually write the letters very similar.

I've had good luck finding records of the Petrlik/Sokol lines.
I posting 2 links for reference of Jakub Petrlik with the hope of confirming information on his parents and maybe his lovely bride Rozalie Kroupa. They were married in 1808 and Jakub sure liked them young..Rozalie was only 15, he was 24.
This is their Marriage Record- 2/28/1808 in Mnichov.

What's strange is how they have hand written in pencil something that clearly says Petrlik under Jacobs name. What is strange though is the fathers last name doesnt look much like Petrlik.
I am seeing Vojtěch? (Albertus). I see Magdalena but not sure if Subo is her last name. They had Jacub in Mnichov, but dont know where they are from.
Whenever time allows, maybe you can take a look.

Yes I will take a look later today. Off for an appt. this morning. Yes Rozalie was young ... 15 is quite young to be married. For the most part back then families arranged the marriages ... and they would be based on what the family needed in terms of extra help with farming, etc. Then I would wonder if her parents were deceased she might have needed a family too. Their ages while 9 years apart seems better than when a 40 year old marries a teen. Has more to do with what the families needed. Bye for now

Taking a look at Jacob's birth record. That is confusing. I cannot read the word above Petrlik; This may not actually be a Petrlik record. Looks to be written in Latin ... or with Latin words. I think the parents names are Adelbertus Slaviczek (his surname) rusticus (rural or couontry -- maybe this means the equivalent of peasant uxor (wife) Magdalena sub? maiden name? Straskovy
Levans -- type of witness Martinus Puschy ; Testes - witness since it is a man and a woman I believe they are godparents: Josephuls Cimburek ambo (both)Magdalena Wachudin of Michov. In some records I have seen there is a person listed as a witness to the birth ...i.e. meaning this woman gave birth to this baby and he is the father. The testes would be the godparents. In Italian records the witness actually accompanies the father who goes to the town magistrate to register the birth and the witness attests that it is true. Hope this helps. Now looking at the marriage record ....handwriting not so easy to read, right?
Jakub Petrlik, age 24, son of deceased Wojtech Petrlik looks like he almost added something like Petrlikika. sedlak (I think this translates as farmer or settler) of Michov; Rozalie ???? owa age 15, daughter of Matey ??? and Anny born ???? House # 55
Might need to search for other records from House # 55 to get a better read of a name
Now take a look at the marriage record previous. Looks to be a marriage record of Anna age 30 daughter of deceased Vojtech (writing is off) Petrlik sedlak of Michowa # 18. Trouble reading the husband's name. First name is Simon -- hard to read the rest. But it appears that both Jakub from the first record and Anna from the previous record are siblings and children of Vojtech Petrlik. What do you think?

If I understand you correctly, your confident that it is Jakub's and Rosalie''s Marriage record. From some other translation of another record we thought Rozalie last name was Kroupa. from the ages on the marriage record, I found what may be her birth record

Hope all work out well for Riley. Let me look at that marriage record again ... I never thought for sure that it was the accurate record. I could not read the maiden name of Rozalie ... my memory is saying it looks it begins with an S ... but I could be wrong. Will take a look at the marriage record of the father also. I searched around for other records for House # 18 and # 55 ... no luck in reading them either. Will look at the records later.

It must be getting confusing to you. Rozalie is a first name, not a maiden name. Here is a screen capture of the petrlik line.

Ooops I wrote a comment and lost it or sent it. I reread both the marriage record for Jakub and Rozalie and agree now that her maiden name is Kroupova. Records are very hard to read. I can sort of make out her father's name Matej Kroup ... or Kroupa. I do believe you found Rozalie's birth record ... House # matches with first names of parents. Her mother's maiden name is a challenge. Might by Czimuskovy or something like that. The written name appears very similar in the marriage record and Rozalie's birth record ...but yes a challenge to read. Who knows ... if you are really lucky another sibling might have been born and their record might be readable. Can you read where Rozalie's mother was living/born?

I'm going to look for Matej Kroupa and Anne Czimulkovy? marriage record and other children born in Mnichov. I could not tell if they even gave a town name for her...hoping its Mnichov. Can you look at Rosalie's birth record again and see if you can tell me the month of her birth. I know she was born on the 17th/1793 but couldn't make out the birth month.
Also if you could take a second look at the marriage record of Vojtech Peterlik and Magdalena wedding record. Trying to determine how I should spell her last name and I believe her fathers first name is Viti. There is a male witness that looks similar last name, but I'd like to get your thoughts.

ah ... almost an easy one. It says Brezen which translates to March. Truthfully the way I figured it out was looking at the other records for the same month ... then I saw Duben which translates as April. Then the handwriting for Brezen "almost" became clear.

Thanks for clearing up the month question, I struck out finding Matej Kroupa and Anne Czimulkovy?? marriage record. But here are 2 different siblings of Rosalie both house #55. Not sure if this will help clarify Rosalie's mothers last name or just confuse things more

One sibling is Magdalena .. the other is Jakub; father Matey; mother Anna .... but those surnames. I will go back and take another look ... in the second entry it looks the mother's surname is the same as the father but with ova or owa at the end
Might start with a K ... but not sure. It is written that Jakub's father was from a particular town ...any idea what it is? Will look again.

Taking another look at Magdalena's birth record ... I think one of the witnesses or godparents is Vit or Wit Kohout. the woman's name appears to be Anna .... but that last name ????

Not having much luck with surnames ... but I am sort of getting better reading some of the words. In Jakub's birth record it gives the names of the witnesses or godparents. Jozef ???? and Anna Kubowcowat ??? how is that for a guess. They are listed as Chalupnik / Sedlak .... chalupnik translates as small peasant or cottager ... guess that means does not own land. Sedlak = farmer.
Sure wish I could read those names ... but I am not giving up yet.

Why don't we move on. Take a look at this marriage record of Vojtecu (adalbertus) Petrlik and Magdalena ?? Both the bride and groom are found in the same box. I am trying to get your opinion on the brides last name. I read Magdalena, daughter of Viti ???. Could you give me an idea of the last name should be spelled?

Re that town name. I was also guessing at Borek ... I could see it to the north of Mnichov.
Re; Magdalena's surname: Here is my read: daughter of Viti Pavlovecz ... might be a good idea to check one of the indexes to see if it written elsewhere
