Community Notifications Issues
This thread in the DQS group
https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/187525/someone-getting-married-later-than-usual-is-not-a-conflict
has been closed since 10 June 2026.
Nearly every day, I receive notifications of multiple new comments on the thread.
This one, today, 8 July 2026, at 5:53 pm, Eastern US.
I did not participate in that thread when it was open. I do not have it bookmarked to follow.

And just now, a day later, still with no activity (of course) on that closed thread, I received this notice:

I am not sure if this issue is related to what you experienced or not.
At least a year ago I unsubscribed to ALL FS notifications - however I will still get bell notifications every day. I have cleared Bookmarks and cache several times without success. When I go to my profile in Community and then selecting “Notifications” from the menu in the lower left corner it brings up hundreds of Community Threads. It appears that they are mostly from the “General Question” group.0 -
@Áine.ní.Donnghaile and @AlexS41 Your issue has been forwarded to a specialty team for review and resolution. You may be contacted by that team if they need to gather more information.

@Áine.ní.Donnghaile and @shecorwe
I could have been clearer. I meant clearing cookies and cache, regarding My Bookmarks in Community I still have quite a few marked. But the Bell Icon alerts I get are not related to these Bookmarks.

The specialty team will probably resolve it, but I'm thinking that there's got to be a coding issue in the background. There are triggers for those notifications, comments in this case, and someone accidentally included something like regular database maintenance passes as counting as comments in a field, although they don't show as comments in the visible thread.
Unfortunately also, this kind of thing helps build up to database and related system crashes. In this specific instance, we've got part of the system thinking that there are 12 new comments, while we can see on the thread page, that there are only 3 in total. If something in the system needed those two pieces of information to sync with each other, they obviously would not, and *~boom~* she goes…

Just to follow up. We have someone investigating this. We have made slight changes, can you tell us if it still happening? If so, any deeper details would be helpful

@Tomlinsonkl I'm not sure what you mean or what I can provide that would qualify as "deeper details."
It's an erroneous notification of a new comment on a closed thread or, in the case of this thread, a notification of multiple new comments when there have been none.
I have not received another notification today on the closed DQS thread, but I did just receive this notification about THIS thread.Obviously, there are not 6 new answers.
