Why is the mail function not working in FamilySearch.org?
Why is the mail function (the white mail letter tag in the top right corner) not working in FamilySearch.org? It's working on some parts of the website, such as on the FamilySearch.org Catalog, but not on others, such as when I'm trying to do a search.
The family trees on FamilySearch.org no longer appear to be working either. I can't access them. Does anyone here know why? As well as the reason for the problem in the first paragraph here?
Thank you.

For instance, when I try to click on Ernest Peronneau's profile here, I can't see anything:
https://www.familysearch.org/search/linker?ark=/ark:/61903/1:1:WHL3-13MM&id=GC7P-NMS&hinting=/tree/person/details/
When it comes to the Family Tree portion on the settings of my FamilySearch.org account, all I see is blurry gray lines, without anything being written on them.
This has already been going on for several months or so.

First: there is no "mail" (envelope) icon anywhere other than this Community. On the main site, internal messaging changed (about a year ago now) to "Chat", which has a "dialog-boxes" icon.
Second, as you can probably tell from the resounding silence here about any problem, the chart views etc. are all working just fine for most people, including me.
Third, the link you gave is to Source Linker for a WWII draft card, which has already been attached to Ernest Nathaniel Perroneau (GC7P-NMS), and again, it works perfectly fine for me.
I can't figure out what you mean by "the Family Tree portion on the settings of my FamilySearch.org account". The closest I can get in my account settings is the "Family Tree Preferences" section of the Account tab, and I don't think that's what you're talking about.
The usual song-and-dance for troubleshooting on FS starts with: is your browser up to date? FS supports the current and previous versions of the "big four" (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge), and usually works fine with any reasonably-recent version of any browser. If that's not the issue, then the next step is to get rid of your FS-related browsing history: either start over in a different browser, or clear your FS-related cache and cookies in your original browser.

Try clicking on Ernest Nathaniel Peronneau's profile in the link in my first post here. For me, it doesn't appear to be working. I get a blank screen instead.

I have right now, but it still doesn't work for me!

All I see is a giant gray page, with white at the top and bottom, and a small moving black circle in the middle of the gray space.
It remains like this indefinitely.

Also, on my FamilySearch.org account Settings, where it says Family Tree Preferences, there are several blank gray lines with nothing on or inside of them. It's very weird and I don't know what exactly is causing this. I do suspect that it's related to why I can't see family tree profiles on FamilySearch.org, though.

@DanielGonik I'd recommend that you contact Support; they can help you with your specific situation and and look into the details of your account, in case that's relevant.

Thanks! Yeah, it seems like I should, because unfortunately, I really don't see any other way out of this.

I hope that the family tree feature hasn't been something that's recently only been reserved for Mormon Church members. (I'm not a Mormon. I just use this website because I like genealogy, especially as it pertains to extremely old people.)

Daniel, neither Julia nor I are members of the LDS faith, and it is all working fine for us. Trust me, nothing has changed.

Thanks, Aine!
It's weird: I can see the documents (US Census entries, et cetera) themselves, in both text and scanned forms, but not the family tree profiles.

OK, so it was that section of the Account tab that you were talking about. Here's what it looks like for me currently:
I remember the Tree starting person and the Romanized script options from before, but the "Expand Record Hints" thing is new. (I have no clue how it works: do different people see different hints on the same profiles?) I wonder if something went glitchy on your account when that slider was added?
I agree with Alan: this is a case that calls for contacting Support directly/individually.

@Julia Szent-Györgyi I enabled the expand hints option a few weeks ago. I am now presented with "weaker hint" options. Sometimes they are valid; sometimes not. I've found the option useful.

OK, I see how it works, now: the slider moves the threshold for hints being shown or not, on all profiles. For users who don't turn this setting on, the hinting system uses the usual, fairly strict threshold for which hints to show. For users who have turned it on, the threshold is slightly lower, but the lower-scoring hints are labeled. So yes, different users will see different hints on the same profiles, depending on this setting.

@Julia Szent-Györgyi FYI, the "Expand Record Hints…" option has been around since April at the latest. I only found it when I went into my Settings for some reason. So, it seems unlikely to be associated with Daniel's problem.
I don't think it has been advertised, and I haven't found anything about it in the Help system. That's probably understandable since it's a double-edged sword.
I think it works by taking a more relaxed attitude to the rules that determine whether a source might apply to a profile. Before I turned it on, I had no outstanding hints; afterwards (not immediately), I had several hundred. When I turned it off, they disappeared. In April, they appeared in the home page list and in profile pages, but not in the Descendancy Tree view.
