US—City Directories, 1866–1940
Just started indexing this and cannot find a year. I went to reference range and couldn't find a year. Right now I've been leaving it blank (ctrl B) but if anyone has ideas I can run back and insert all that. This project is new apparently-when I downloaded a batch it said "0%" done so perhaps someone doesn't know yet.
This is for Newport, Kentucky. I randomly selected a name and went to Ancestry to check and this person lived 1924-1941 so It had to be in there somewhere.

You will mark it blank. We don't use outside sources to determine anything.

Just a note for everyone, reference images can be used to locate the place and date for this project if it states the info on top of the form.

Doing US—City Directories, 1866–1940 [Part A][MQFD-HT9], I did the batch given me. It won't let me submit. because it's showing things that I didn't do. Plus it's showing that there should be 250 entries. but I only had 67. It doesn't like my directory place either.

For the Directory place, it should accept Salt Lake City. The front of the directory even says, in part, Salt Lake City.
For the extra entries, follow these two steps:
Click on the trash can icon on the toolbar.
This dialog box appears. Choose "All Blank Entries", then click Delete. You then will be able to submit the batch

PS I wasn't using Ancestry as an outside source, only to give me a generalized idea of the time frame of the directory. Thank you.
I've been leaving them blank for this particular set in KY and will continue to do so. Appreciate the input.

Delete All Blank Entries is not working for me. I completed both pages, (96 entries of 250). I completed the Quality Check for my 96 Entries and am ready to submit the batch. I selected Delete, All Blank Entries, but the notice still indicates there are 906 Issues remaining.

This is a simple fix.
Go to the first entry that contains only the Directory Place.
Mark the field <BLANK>.
When you Ctrl+B any field, it automatically kicks you to the next field. Head back up to the Directory Place.
On your toolbar is this button.
Click on it. This will mark all remaining "Directory Place" fields blank.
Now you will be able to delete the blank entries and submit. Keep in mind that "All blank entries" is every entry that is blank by default or that have been blanked out (like the "Directory Place" field).
(Note that you should not mark every empty entry completely Ctrl+B. That's a giant waste of time, since they'll be deleted anyway).
You can do this with any field within the image, but this does not carry over to a second image. You'll have to do the same thing in the second image (with batches that have 2+ images per batch).

Brilliant! Worked perfectly.
I really appreciated your comment: "Note... not mark Ctrl B every field. The Content check still requires the ctrl B, but now I know how to down-fill in large chunks.
Note: Switching Data Entry View from Form to Table, really helps to see potential mistakes before submitting Directories.

If you do the content check after deleting the extra entries, then you shouldn't need to do any extra ctrl-Bs (beyond the ones for any fields that you down-filled).
I do wonder: is there some way that the trashcan button could be "taught" to ignore down-fills? As it currently stands, I find myself Highly Reluctant to use the fill feature, no matter how annoying it gets to type the same thing over and over and over again, because annoying is still easier than the extra work it takes to get the trashcan to work if you've used the fill.
