Make sure new children are notified in Following in all cases
I rely on following about 6000 people (across two logins unfortunately) to find out changes that are recorded against them. On the whole this works very well and I appreciate the feature.
One frustrating anomaly has recently become apparent to me.
(1) If a child (deceased) is added to a person I am following, I am notified of the change. This happens often and I am grateful for the notification.
(2) If a child (deceased) was added to a person some time ago as a living person, and there was a recent change to mark them deceased, I am NOT notified of the change, even though I am following the parents.
Hoping that scenario (2) might be better supported, especially with the increasing support for maintaining living people in Family Search.

Although I would like to be notified when children of a person I Follow are changed from living to deceased, I think there would need to be a waiting period in place before notification. That waiting period would be needed to hide accidental premature disclosures of profiles of persons who are living or very recently deceased.
So, I am on the fence re whether to upvote this.
@MarlenePitman could you say more about your suggestion?

Thanks for your interest and feedback on this.
Your suggestion re a waiting period seems to be a different proposal as your proposed need for a waiting period could apply equally to the scenario in which a deceased person is added to the tree and a notification is currently being sent if one or both of the parents are being followed.
I receive many such notifications and am very keen to do so. In general I verify the accuracy of the entry and check for confirming sources.
However, I've recently discovered that I am not receiving such verifications in the scenario in which the person has been recorded as living and then changed to deceased. Obviously I am not notified of the living person in the first instance, and I presume because it is considered a profile change rather than a new profile, I am not notified of the change to deceased.
Given that living people are in the private space, these two types of change are identical to me, one gets notified, but the other does not.
I would very much appreciate your vote.

I would think you should be notified of the parent child relationship being made public by the change to deceased. But perhaps such would require a change in profile ID (since you weren't following the Living profile ID). With the new Family Group sharing feature (discussed at Rootstech) - this situation will likely be resolved (because living profiles could then be shared amongst a Family Group - dependent upon having 10 Family Groups or less currently).

Hi there. Thanks for your feedback. I fully agree that this situation should be resolved with the use of living profiles, and hope that by flagging it here it will be taken into account in the development work.
That said, it is still an inconsistency that should be resolved regardless of the new work.
