6 hours and counting without the ability to search...is more than throttling...
I appreciate its free, but as no website covers everything, we probably all have subscriptions elsewhere anyway, so might have to decamp to somewhere more stable soon.

The seemingly random occurrences of an inability to get any search results when searching historical records has been reported to engineering. Hopefully they will get things working again soon.

Thank you Stephanie. I'm sorry I broke the website for everyone this week 😅 I was only retrieving birth records on microfilm for my family. 😇

It could also potentially be some sort of hack/DDOS attack (not FamilySearch's problem/fault) FamilySearch doesn't publicly discuss these potential causes - at least I haven't seen them do so in the past decade. It would be nice if FamilySearch is aware of a network issue/issue - because of maintenance/changes on their end to provide an alert notice of such.
Now that FamilySearch has two Search apps - has anyone suggested All collections Search (see if it is happening in both - which it should ...):

@Brad Felmey Nice Work. It leads to the implication that a recent update may be responsible.
@Áine Ní Donnghaile Since you are not experiencing issues, can you declare whether you're logged in with a Church account or a Public User account, and whether you have an "Accept all" policy regarding Cookies and Scripts etc.
@Julia Szent-Györgyi Since you raised the subject of throttling, I'd like to add my experience that over the last couple of months I've had many significant delays in page loading which I'd attributed to my machine/browser etc. but despite all my attempts to overcome/repair the problem, I've had no success.

Just timed this session. Less than thirty minutes before the search failed. All valid criteria, but the presented results were either not relevant (too many very widespread "near" matches), or just plain wrong. In some cases I already knew the precise event and location but could not get the search engine to present it. I wonder if the intervening AI (hypothetical recent security update) sees my revisions of the search criteria as a DOS attack. If so then it needs to be retrained.

@genthusiast You might have hit on a brilliant workaround ! I just tried the "All Collections" search after the 'normal' search kept failing, and the All Collections search worked. So I then went back to the tab with the failed "No Results Found" message and tried again and it worked ! What's Happening @!

I am not a member of the LDS Church. Working from home, not at an Affiliate or FHC. I mostly use Firefox, but I've tested on Chrome, Opera, and Edge. I'm not experiencing any of these "no results" issues.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile Thanks for the info. Other threads seem to suggest that it's related to a IP routing change that's a work-in-progress and might be completed by 15th Dec.

Following on from @genthusiast's question about whether it affected both search tools, and then what appeared to be a workaround by using the "all collections" search. I have now been able to work for a sustained period with no issues after using the "all collections" search as a start point. This could be pure luck and simply that the original problem has been resolved, or it could be that by using the "all collections" search first, some crumb is set which allows the search function to work without intervention.

Just checking back. The engineers applied the fixes and it seems that all is well with this issue. We are not seeing this problem anymore on our end. Let me know if there are any new occurrences. Thanks!

@StephanieVThomas I've experienced the issue intermittently in the subsequent weeks though usually reloading the page a time or two resolves the issue. However, it's been quite bad again in the last few hours. I am unable to perform searches and see results no matter what parameters I set or how many times I reload the page.
