1950 US Census record shows 403 - Record access denied.

The following url is triggers a 403 error:
www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6X22-XK8F
From a specific records search.
Probably Related as the same error is generated from research hints for same person (GNXY-PNN), 1950 Census:
www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/GNXY-PNN
Is this a problem with the record or the web client? Please advise....
Note:
Tested on both:
- Firefox 105.0.3 (64-bit) - Mint Linux
- Microsoft Edge Version 107.0.1418.8 (Official build) dev (64-bit) (linux)
Regards,
Craig
P.S. Keep up the awesome work!

Dear@CraigBanker ,
I can confirm you that for both aforementioned cases the issue is not related to the web.
Using my smartphone with Chrome browser I received no a error code but this clarification:
We're unable to show this record to you.
This record can only be displayed on certain accounts. FamilySearch must honor the agreements we have with our partners, record owners, and internal policies.
I hope this can help you!
Regards,
Massimo

Having same problem, access denied when trying to view or link 1950’s census records.

That is crazy!

@Brent Hollingsworth I have asked for escalation, too, and crickets.
@Mike357 I realize this may not be in your area of responsibility, but can you please try to get someone to take a look.

@Brent Hollingsworth I have noticed the same issue with the 1950 Census but just with certain states. I can see the hints for my family in Florida, but I get the same error that the data is only viewable by certain accounts/cannot be found so I cannot attach the records. Other states are working fine (Washington, Arizona, Maryland, etc). So I am wondering if permissions need to be corrected for certain states/records?
I also did a lot of indexing on this census, so it is especially frustrating!!

Also getting this message
“We're unable to show this record to you.
This record can only be displayed on certain accounts. FamilySearch must honor the agreements we have with our partners, record owners, and internal policies.”
and there’s a whole unanswered separate discussion on this topic as well

@Brent Hollingsworth - I just reviewed a couple of the PID's you noted and Review and Attach seems to be working. Is this still an issue?

@Mark McLemore Thanks for stopping in.
I just clicked on the very first PID in Brent's list, and I still see the 403 error.
Are you possibly accessing from a Church member account?

@Áine Ní Donnghaile - thank you for that clarifying point, that was the problem. I've replicated the issue and reported it to our engineering team.

Thank you. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but why did it take weeks for us to get a reply on this topic? There are MANY threads about the issues with the 1950 census and 403 errors.

I have to wonder if this doesn't have something to do with "Professor Joe" of US1910project fame.
1 -
@Áine Ní Donnghaile I'm unfamiliar with the specifics. Let me dig into this and I'll circle back once I know more.

If you really want to attach the 1950 census record to your file you can go to Ancestry and copy-paste to get it into your file.

Thank you @Mark McLemore

Quite some time ago you said you intended to carry out a general review of the moderation function. The importance of this seems to have been highlighted recently, with moderators (especially more experieced ones) seemingly disappearing from Community for extended periods. If we "ordinary members" continue to voluntarily visit here practically every day to help address problems, surely it is not to much to expect that mods should be available to do the same?
This issue (with the 1950 census) should have been referred to the engineers a while back, so perhaps a reorganisation of moderators (including possibly some sort of rota to ensure adequate 7 day a week coverage) really needs to be implemented to ensure important issues are not being overlooked.

If Community can 'take care of itself' it allows FamilySearch moderator resources to be allocated elsewhere (they are volunteers too). But you are right - if Community needs to refer to FamilySearch for review - because of access restrictions to 'resources' then perhaps the best approach will be to just tag all the 'more prominent' moderators or managers rather than speculate? I had my guess on this one - but only FamilySearch or 'those in the know' can make an announcement...

This issue was recently reported to Family Search engineers.

What does it mean when I attempt to view a 1950 Census record and it gives me the following message? I'm confused because I've never seen this before on FS:
"This record can only be displayed on certain accounts. FamilySearch must honor the agreements we have with our partners, record owners, and internal policies."

I started seeing this issue on my phone with the Family Tree app. When trying to view a record hint from the 1950 census (but not all records, some worked) the hint would just close and go back to the person record. When I opened the same person on the web version of Family Search I saw the 403 record access denied message described above.
Example person from my tree: Agatha Ann Pope KHRS-V5R

I'm having this problem as well. I understand it has been reported. In addition to following this thread, what is the best way to monitor the solution timeline?

I'm not new, and getting the same message when I click on the blue link notifying me that Family Search has found a possibly source.

Same issue here. One common denominator seems to be that not all family members are contained in the hint, For example, Head of household has record hint along with one of more family members, but at least one family member is not included in hint.

Thank you. It would be very helpful if there were some type of flag on a post to indicate whether it is just a user requesting assistance from the Community or asking a how-to question vs. a report of a system defect/bug/error that needs moderator/programmer intervention. When I posted my report about the Error 403 issue on 10/13, I got eight replies from other users, all simply stating they had the same issue. It seems to me there is no way to get a post directly to the attention of the software engineers. Thanks, everyone.

Yes, we've asked for an easier way to know which mods to contact but nothing so far. One thing you can do is use the "Flag" button to alert the mods to an issue.

I am having the same 403 error when attempting to view and attach hints for family members from the 1950 US census. I am also not finding many of the family members that should have been in the 1950 census. Some of them I myself reviewed.
2 -
also find it frustrating that after contributing time reviewing many records. I get this.

I'm still getting an error message whenever I click on a hint involving the 1950 census. It doesn't appear to be on every state, but because much of my family is from Florida, I'm out of luck. It's frustrating, but I'm hopeful this will be fixed some day. I've been checking back each month. See you guys in November!

"Certain accounts" would usually mean Latter Day Saints or those living in certain countries.
