Incorrect birthplace displayed on England & Wales census index
I'm finding that some birthplaces in Lincolnshire are being incorrectly displayed as "Lincoln, Lincolnshire".
Here's an example: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWHD-998
On the record itself, John William Moore is said to have been born in Gedney, Lincolnshire.
But in the search results, the birthplace is displayed as "Lincoln, Lincolnshire": https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=20&f.recordType=3&q.birthLikeDate.from=1845&q.birthLikeDate.to=1855&q.birthLikePlace=spalding%2C%20lincolnshire&q.givenName=william&q.recordCountry=England&q.surname=moore&f.collectionId=1921547

This seems to be another instance of a standardization program error. I'm looking at the extract/transcription on FindMyPast.com, and the location is Stockton On Tees, Durham, England, as shown in Event Place (Original) in the FamilySearch extract. https://www.findmypast.com/transcript?id=GBC%2F1911%2FRG14%2F29560%2F0379%2F1

Yes, the location is correct, but the birthplace is wrong in the search results (and doesn't match what has been transcribed in the record).

@KatieFuller2 Thank you for including URLs so we can see what you see on the 1911 England and Wales Census entry for John William Moore. The Birthplace error is not an example of the computer standardization errors we are seeing in some event places. It was an error made when the index was created. Since findmypast owns the index, they are not editable on FamilySearch. So, you have a couple of options:
--You can attach the flawed index information to your ancestor on Family Tree and note the error in birthplace in your reason to attach notes.
--You can view the original image on findmypast and use the URL for the image to create a source for your ancestor in Family Tree, thus bypassing the indexing error. If you do not have a subscription to findmypast.com, you can use it at a FamilySearch center.
Below are links to 2 Help Center articles: one of them gives you instructions for locating a FamilySearch center near you. The other explains how to create a source using a URL.

Thanks, but that doesn't really help.
I am lucky to have a FMP subscription so I can check the information in the images.
I'm not looking to build a tree on FS, but to cite the source on WikiTree. Some people prefer a FamilySearch citation for censuses, because it's free to access - but not very helpful if inaccuracies are introduced.
On FMP, the birthplace has been transcribed correctly as "Lincoln Gedney" (i.e. Gedney in Lincolnshire). it doesn't say "Lincoln, Lincolnshire" so it looks like something's gone wrong somewhere.
