Society, Church, and Group Leaders – Create a group and track your participation together
Would you like to join a group to review with others in your group or organization? Create a FamilySearch group! With a group you will be able to track the work you do together and use the FamilySearch Messaging system.
1. Go to https://www.familysearch.org/groups/family and click Create Group.
2. Complete the information required.
3. Once created, you can invite others to join your group. Click to view the group and copy the URL to send an invitation to your group members.
4. Approve each member as they join.
All contributions by group members will be included in your group statistics on the 1950 US Census Project page.

@Sam Sulser I created a group for our center. How do I see the reviewed numbers? I don't see a place on the group page using the link above.

@Tamara Stevenson The stats aren't quite ready yet, but they will show on the page below your personal stats when they are available! They are working on getting the full project up and then will add the stats.

@Janell Vasquez Thanks! At least I know I am looking in the right place!

I want to make sure I understand this correctly. Group statistics should ultimately appear on the 1950 Census page. Is that correct?
You mentioned the numbers will appear after the rest of the project is released. Two questions on that . . . Will this include all work done by group members since April 1? When is the group information expected to be released?
You mention the group stats will appear under personal stats on the 1950 census page. I don't currently see personal stats either on that page. Are personal stats coming at the same time as the group stats, then?

@Paul G. C. Smith, "Personal and Group Statistics - Personal stats launched yesterday! Have you checked them out? Because of the states issue, did you realize you had worked on so many states....? :) Group statistics will be here soon!!k"
We don't have a timeframe for the group, but are told they will be here soon.

@Janell Vasquez I set up a Family Group for my stake. Is that where the personal and group statistics is going to be? If they have been involved but not joined that particular group will we miss out on seeing what has been done? I've been teaching tons of people in my stake but not giving them the long URL to join the group. So I need to know if I need to follow up?
Thanks!

@Shanna S. Jones the personal statistics are showing on the home page of the 1950 census. All contributions by group members will be included in your group statistics on the 1950 US Census Project page eventually. I don't have further information about that. I am giving you the URL and on the right side you will be able to read more about everything in "Group Participation"
.
You might want to follow up with some of your members. If you invite them and give them the URL, then you accept them to the group when they join.
I hope that this has helped you. I'm sorry it has taken so long to respond to you.

In looking around FamilySearch one day, I noticed there were groups defined for both my ward and stake (now I can't seem to find them). I know when you create a group, you can send invitations to other people to join. But how can you submit a request to join a group that you know exists.
Thanks ... Clark

@Clark Kidd, give this a try. It is found on the home page/landing page of 1950 census. Scroll down under your contributions by state.
FamilySearch Groups
If you want to work as a group on the 1950 Census, use the new family groups feature. It may take 15-30 minutes for your group to appear. Your group stats will include your contributions starting the moment you join a group.

Thanks. That was the first thing I tried. But when I select "Join a Group" it doesn't show any groups and just wants me to create a new one. I want to connect to groups that I know are already out there.

@Clark Kidd, I'm sorry that didn't work for you. I'm not sure in FamilySearch you would have seen those groups unless you had already joined them. You would see Family Groups after signing into FamilySearch, click on your name and the drop-down menu has Family Groups that you can click on. The only other thing I would suggest is that you ask your ward or stake leaders if they could direct you to the person who created the groups so they can give you an invitation to join the group.
I hope this helps.

My husband is our ward temple and family history leader and I am a consultant. On June 5 we received a letter from FamilySearch encouraging us to create a ward group to "collaborate and measure success." We were told that we could use the group to provide periodic updates on our progress to maintain enthusiasm, invite others to participate and celebrate our successes. I created a group and posted the link on our ward Facebook page, and we will also have it emailed to our ward members. However, as the administrator, all I can see is a way to send messages to the group. Can anyone tell me how I will see what other members of the group are doing on the census?

@Clark Kidd Sorry about the confusion, that's right that there's no way to search groups that exist right now. That might be added in the future at some point. Until then you'll need to reach out to the organizations you are affiliated with to see if they are creating groups, and then get the link to join from them.
@anncalder That's great! Underneath the map on the main volunteer page you can see the stats for what the group is doing together. You can't see what individuals are doing - only the group as a whole.

I am an administrator for our 1950 census group. We have new members joining our group. Some new members were already doing the 1950 census review before joining our group.
How can what the previously completed 1950 cencus work be included in our group statistics (as well as in their individual statistics).
Thank you so much for your help.

@RoseannaMarch1 Thank you for organizing your group. The members' individual statistics will reflect all of their work on the 1950 census. Unfortunately, the group statistics are designed to be collected when the work is done as part of a group so any work done before a person joins the group would not be automatically added to the group totals. Members might report these to you individually and you could make notes to include in any reports that you complete for your leaders.
