In Review Headers you can only review one header in that specific search at a time, then It goes back to the state with no county/city option at all for the next name. This happened in CA, MN, NM, WI. I've tried with a city/county option and just a county option. Every time the next header you get is in another county.

@MinnWisRoots, yes, I see that! Could you please go to the main page of the 1950 census and report that or give the suggestion that the system goes to another header in the same county automatically, please? We appreciate you so much catching this. Please write detailed note explaining.

Can you explain more about how this works? For example, if I click Michigan, then Review Names, then Search by County or City, then type in Mackinac Island, then click Search, it returns:
"We didn't find any names to review."

- Click on +SEARCH BY COUNTY OR CITY and start typing in the city and/or county name (e.g., Mackinac Island). A drop-down list of recognized locations will appear for you to select from.
- If you want to search for a particular last name, you can enter it in the Last Name (Optional) field.
Note: This is a one search only function for the last name. If the name is lower on the page, the program might take you to the top of the page for the next name if it has not reviewed. If you are just reviewing by County and/or City it will go from unreviewed line to line in the same location.

Fantastic!! This will help greatly. While AI does a great job (I estimate 80-90% correct), it does sometimes completely MESS UP!
I was able to find my birth home in New York, small town upstate & found my family after a couple hundred reviewed names. However, if I had NOT found it, no one else likely would have. While it's only a 4 letter name starting with 'W'... the AI showed it as starting with 'M' & the other three letters were ALL wrong. But THIS version is now indexed properly!!!
Nothing like hometown indexers, I recognized MANY names!!

@CaptBob Thank you for expressing your appreciation for the work that is being done to improve the indexing processes. Your experience validates the decisions that were made to use humans to review the records that were initially scanned by AI. As you said, there is no substitute for people being able to work with the records of folks that they actually know. Please, encourage your friends and family members to get involved.

Thanks, but regrettably, that (& adding the "Not a Name' button) are about the only things I've noticed worthy of 'praise' Having done tens of thousands of Name Reviews, I'm continuing to 'boycott' the FAMILY review until FS opts out of the idea of indexing of all the (non genealogical) items & make the efficient decision to get the index DONE & do the easier job of simply creating an index so USERS can find the names & read the trivia for themselves.(several posts on this idea in the forum, but apparently no one cares)

@CaptBob The information to be extracted from the 1950 census is set by contract so it is highly unlikely that any changes will be made. This index is not being undertaken strictly for the use of those who are interested in family history. Many "non genealogical" users will be able to access the information that is being included as they research things like migration patterns, employment, family size, etc.

@MinnWisRoots hello it just says "We didn't find any names to review" every time. Did you get a different result or were you just illustrating the search button?

@Robert Chapin_1, my screenshot was to show the program error.
With the other states, I have noticed the Review Families option is not available until Review Names is 100% completed and usually Review Headers as well. The Review Families makes sense, since you wouldn't want only some of the names in a household to have been reviewed when you are reviewing the family. Don't know why the Headers would interfere with it since that data isn't part of it, but that's the way it appears in all of the other states that have color on the Review map.
I just checked Michigan and looks like it has been fixed since the Review Family button is grey and says Coming Soon like the other states.
So if you want to review specific Michigan families work on getting the Review Names and Headers to 100% completion.

Search by City to index? Yeah, not really. If I try Marion (County) Ohio, I can get sheets to review in Marion County. If I try to get Marion (city) in Marion County, Ohio, I get nothing but an error.
I know it should work, but it's not.
If we could work by enumeration district, that would be best.

I wish I knew what happened to the Columbus, Franklin, Ohio pages!!! Haven't seen one yet no matter what!!!

@dwalus, I was able to bring up Franklin, Ohio in Header Review. You may just have to keep trying. I finally got it on about the fifth try. I can't seem to find for name review. You could send in Feedback on the main/landing page on the left side of the page. It should be bringing it up. Best of luck.

Franklin, Ohio isn't necessary Columbus, Franklin, Ohio.

I really like the search by county for header review. But there is something else that can be done to make this go faster. In the header section, the Enumerator's Signature and Checked by signatures can be very difficult to read. Why don't you make it present the same township or city repeatably so that we see the same signatures over and over again. And if we are going to be seeing the same signatures, we can paste them into notepad to be able to copy and paste over and over again as needed until that township or city is complete. And also, let us know how many entries in that particular township or city are remaining to be done.
Example: I decided to do Pennsylvania and choose Lawrence County. And a city such as Ellwood City is presented. Rather than bouncing all over the county for the next header to review, it should stay on that city until all the Ellwood City entries are completed.
With it bouncing all over the county, I forget how to read the signatures since it may not appear again for a while.

@HerrJamesAlan1 These are good ideas. I hope that you have shared them through the Feedback link.

Wow!!! Being able to pick a county was such an improvement!! When you are familar with the names it goes so fast! I estimate I'm 4times faster and much more accurate with those hard to read names.
