Can't add surname to family continued on 2nd page
Is there a way to manually add the surnames to family members that continue on the 2nd page in the Family Group section? I was able to continue selecting family members on the 2nd page, but when checking fields, the last names are blank and not editable on the 2nd page. They just say " missing field" and cannot be edited.

When indexing in the iOS app, I am unable to view the previous page to see what the family surname is for a son continued on the next page with —- for his surname. I think this falls into your same question, I hope.

What I did when I encountered this problem (missing surname on 1st row of a continued page) - check for a street number and street name on the page, record the ED#, Sheet # and city-name the go to the "1950 Census district finder" on Ancestry.com's home-page - type in the street#/street-name, city, state etc to find the ED - then go to the previous sheet# in the ED. Worked for me.

Thanks, I think my issue was a bit different. I knew the correct surname, since it was carrying over from the bottom of the page I was on. But for some reason, those surname boxes at the top of the 2nd page were generated to be uneditable. It wouldn't even allow me to type in the surnames that I knew.

I think this will be resolved when the family groups are reviewed in the next step

Yes, this occurred during the family group editing for Oregon.

This has to be simplified. Put the tool on the application that allows us to look at the previous page. If we are suppose to blank out the - in the surname because it is from the previous page then give us those instructions.

Sorry, I think I confused things. The " - " can be left at the top and fixed in the family group stage. I think there was just a glitch for my original issue that didn't allow it to be fixed at first. But since then, I've been able to correct the surnames left as " - " in the next phase. No need to cross reference and look up pages somewhere else. Sorry for the confusion.

I had the same situation: no surname on the first lines ...... surname on the previous page. But in another case I had the surname but the household started on the previous page. I went ahead a reviewed the names I had since I had the surname.
And guess what ....... a day later the previous with the "missing" head of family page popped up for review ...... names were at the bottom and continued on the next page. I went ahead and grouped the family and completed the review.
