Place name screw ups with 1900 census

Today I came across the second record for my home county of Garfield in Colorado where someone incorrectly changed the event place name to Carbondale, Garfield, Colorado, United States. Carbondale is a city in Garfield County, but neither of the sources were located in that city. The one I edited today was actually in Battlement, which is still located in unincorporated Garfield County, roughly 60 miles away from the town of Carbondale. Since I've found two of these, I'm going to assume there are a lot more.

Here's another one. I know PRECISELY where my Aunt Rachel lived in 1900. Someone has standardized the place she lived to Parachute, when it clearly states on the census record that they lived in Rifle. These locations are 16 miles apart. How did this get messed up so badly? Volunteers?

Oh, and better yet, I apparently have to edit each of my ancestor's records on this page in order to make the change. This means that if I wanted to correct the entire 1900 census for my county, it would take hours of labor. Ack!
