Attention: @Mark McLemore
Subject: Fault / Flaw; or, By Design? FYI. We can NO LONGER submit a "New Idea" from (within) a (ie. ANY ) 'Topic'!
Background:
I just was in the "Ideas" Section; and, went through, all, the various, 'Topics' ...
There is NO LONGER, the ability, to submit, a "New Idea", from (within) a (ie. ANY ) 'Topic'.
Query:
Is the REMOVAL, of that ability, to submit a "New Idea", from (within) a (ie. ANY ) 'Topic' either,
(1) A Fault / Flaw?; or,
(2) By Design?
Can you please advise.
As, such is a 'change'/'shift' in the ways things used to worked.
One could go to ANY particular 'Topic'; and, post (ie. submit) a "New Idea" from (within) ANY 'Topic'.
Such is NOT available, now.
.
'Thank You' in advance.
Submitted for your immediate, information; attention; and, consideration.
Kind Regards.
MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU IN THIS IMPORTANT WORK
Yours Faithfully,
Brett

@Brett . Thanks for the heads up, this was not intentional. Digging into the issue now.

@Brett . I'm not able to reproduce the issue. Are you still unable to see New Idea?

I am sorry, for my delayed response.
I had to wait for "Image Moderation", of your "Image".
Short Answer: 'Yes', I still CANNOT 'see' that "New Idea" 'Button' (ie. Link).
Initially, I was just using, 'Google' "Chrome", with 'Microsoft' "Windows 10" (Latest versions).
While I was waiting I tried:
'Mozilla' "FireFox"; and,
'Microsoft' "Edge".
Same, Same - in ALL Three (x3).
I DID NOT, try "Clearing" my, "Cookies"; and/or, "Cache", for the "Browser" of "Chrome".
But ...
That Said ...
I DID, "Clear', my, "Cookies"; and/or, "Cache", for the "Browser" of "FireFox"
[ ie. I 'looked' both, BEFORE; and, AFTER, "Clearing" my, "Cookies"; and/or, "Cache" ... ]
No Difference.

@Brett . Thank you for the addition info. Working to determine root cause.
1 -
@Brett . Quick request - would you please log out of the community completely, then log back in and let me know if the issue is still present?

Mark
I already DID that when I was re-checking the "Browsers" ...
[ That ALSO included "Restarting" my "Computer" ... ]
Question: Do you want me to try again?

@Brett . Thanks for the info. No need if you've already tried.

I was just working on another post in the Forum.
I will just wait till "Image Moderation" clears, on that post; and, I will try again.
No probs, for doing such, on may part.
Better to be safe, rather than sorry.
Hopefully, it will not be long.

FYI
Same, same ... ALL x3 Browsers.
▬ Switched my Computer 'Off', waited a while.
▬ Switched my Computer 'On' again.
▬ Even, 'Logged Out'; and, 'Logged In, for BOTH, 'FamilySearch'; and, the Forum (for each attempt).
▬ Even, did the, BEFORE; and, AFTER, "Checking", with "Clearing" my, "Cookies"; and/or, "Cache".
... [ for 'Mozilla' "FireFox" ]

FYI
Help.
Mark, was monitoring, while I tried on some other devices (ie. Computer & Mobile Phone).
Still, no go ... same, same ...
Question: Are any of you, NOT 'seeing', that "New Idea" 'Button' (ie. Link), in ANY particular 'Topic', in "Ideas"?
I can get there from other means, to raise a post, just cannot get there from the various 'Topics' themselves.
[ ie. NO "New Idea" 'Button' (ie. Link) ]
Mark indicates all looks good from their end.
Strange.
I just wonder, if I am one of the 'odd ones out'.
[ Hey, I know, I am one of the 'odd ones' ... ]
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
'Thank You' in advance.

@Brett ., I see the same thing you do in Ideas -- no "new" button anywhere, just the "follow" bell and the sort and filter dropdowns.

Julie
'Thank You', for that confirmation.
Mark
Glad to know, that I am NOT, the ONLY one.

@Julia Szent-Györgyi & @Brett . - Thank you both for the info. I've passed this on to our dev team who are digging into the issue.

Sorry for my delay in response. No, I can't see the "New Idea" link either.

@Mark McLemore Note: This feature is not visible for moderators and admins. It is limited to patrons without moderator privileges. You will not be able to see the defective behavior unless you (as I did) try it from your public account. So, it is apparently a permissions problem around the button. Hopefully, that helps you get it to the right group in dev.

FYI
As far as I am aware ...
The "Feature", is NOT, visible to those 'lowly Participants (ie. Users/Patrons) in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, who only have generic/basic (ie. Non-Administrative) privileges.
I am one of those 'lowly Participants (ie. Users/Patrons); and, I CANNOT 'see' the "Feature".
Here is another recent post where it appears ANOTHER 'lowly Participant (ie. User/Patron), I CANNOT 'see' the "Feature":

@Brett . When I said, "feature," I was talking about the feature of the button being invisible--which was the complaint. For moderators, the button is visible. So, the invisibility feature is not apparent for them. Sorry for the confusion. I thought that my statement from my public account above, "You will not be able to see the defective behavior unless you (as I did) try it from your public account," would make it clear that the "feature" I was referring to was the defective behavior. And this post that you quoted from another area was also mine from my moderator account:
BTW, we do not refer to or view our guests who are not moderators, administrators, or missionaries as, "lowly." They are whom we serve.

All good.
At least, the matter, is 'in hand'.
By the way ...
Although, I have been helping/assisting in the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, for a number of Years ...
I am STILL just one of the MANY 'lowly' Users/Patrons (ie. Participants) ... nothing more, nothing less ...
And ...
I, DO NOT, refer; or, view, the OTHER 'lowly' Users/Patrons (ie. Participants), like myself; as, "Guests".
I, refer; or, view, the OTHER 'lowly' Users/Patrons (ie. Participants), like myself; as, just, "Participants", in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
The "Community.FamilySearch" Forum was originally established on the premise of:
Users/patrons, HELPING / ASSISTING, Users/Patrons.
And, the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, has been quite successfully, operating on the aforementioned premise, for quite a number of years, prior to; and, without, the (recent) inclusion of 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel).
In fact, there was originally, a 'Group', in the "Groups" Section, of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, being "Indexing Chat", that was one of the most, successful; and, active, groups in the Forum.
Unfortunately, the decision was made, to "Close", that Most EFFECTIVE 'Group' of "Indexing Chat"; and, instead, ONLY "Allowing" the existence of the 'Category' of "Indexing", under the "Q and A" Section, in the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, with the the (recent) inclusion of 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) into the Forum.
I consider, the aforementioned, to be a sad move, very disappointing indeed.
It is just so sad; especially, with the general decline (almost, 'demise') of of the 'Groups', since to move to the NEW ("Vanilla") Platform of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, a few Months ago.

Good perspective. We are all scrambling to maintain continuity of service with the changes in platforms. Fortunately, our leadership and staff are being continuously made aware of gaps in the processes and tools and are bridging them as fast as possible.
Cheers!

Been out of town for five days with no internet. It was wonderful. That is why I have not previously confirmed, as requested earlier, that I cannot see the New Idea button either on the main Ideas page where it used to be. I can see it, however, and use it to post a new Idea by entering any posted discussion and using the button there.

with this being broke for more than a week - surely would have been nice to have some sort of banner/popup or other message that would have made all users aware of this flaw and that was being worked on.
Does not the community have some sort of log on banner/message/General information/status communication area - where major issues can be displayed to all users that wish to know?? - such as when the system is down - or when there are major functional flaws, or other messages that need to make it to all end users to keep them abreast of things not working as expected and the status of the system.

@Brett . , @Dennis J Yancey, @Gordon Collett, @Julia Szent-Györgyi , @Bruce Wilkinson, @Paul W - Friends, I apologize for this issue occurring and the length of time it took to resolve it. Thank you for reporting it, duplicating it and using the workarounds while we dug into the issue.
At this point, the issue should be resolved - please let me know if that is not the case.

'Thank You'
'Yes', I know, I just notice such.
[ When I was responding in another post ... ]
Seems to be addressed/fixed.
Lets give it a little while, to 'see' if there are any 'latent' problems/issues.
[ ie. Please DO NOT "Close" this post just yet ... ]
