Add a new Icon in Family Tree to show that “Unfinished Attachments“ are in a Person Record.
This Icon would appear where ever a Record Hint Icon can appear. It would indicate in which Person Records “Unfinished Attachments“ are present in in the Sources List.
This is easy to imagine because it enhances “Unfinished Attachments“ to be equal in value as Record Hints. Together this will allow FamilySearch/Family Tree to better “create the best-sourced, public genealogical family tree in the world.”

"Unfinished Attachments" eventually get whittled down to unidentifiable people. I'd really rather NOT deal with those in the hints section.

you didnt define what you considered "unfinished attachments"
"unfinished" - as it refers to attachments - can, under various scenarios, be rather subjective and ambiguous.

I don't under the first sentence. I find it rare to find unidentifiable people. It is about the same as for record hints.
You would not have to deal with these Research Help items any more than for others.

I did not define "unfinished attachments" because Family Tree defines "Unfinished Attachments". In addition it flags source citations that have "Unfinished Attachments". This is not "might have" but have. Each time a source citation is flagged, a box is included "This source has not been attached to all people found in the record. Learn More"
Here "record" means the data indexed form the Historical Document, that is stored as a database record. This includes all persons identified in the Historical Document, if the indexing is done correctly. Clicking Learn More takes you to https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-handle-unfinished-attachments-in-family-tree That is objective.

I though you were referring to FS Memories uploads
My bad.

@Douglas McPhaden, for me, at least nine times out of ten Unfinished Attachments means that there is someone in the index grouping that I haven't been able to identify. (If I could, it'd be attached.) Sometimes such people can eventually be identified, but usually there simply isn't enough information, and it's destined to sit there forever as Unfinished. It's bad enough to have to hide it in the source lists of each of the other people in the index grouping. I don't want to have to repeat that effort in the Hints section, too.

They need to allow to you search your family tree for the "unfinished attachments". currently it only searches parents, siblings, spouses, and children to display in the list. I have several marked "unfinished" but I cannot attache them as they are in laws, or cousins named, especially in obituaries. I know who they are, but I cannot attach them as FS doesn't allow a way to do this. There is no search or enter an ID number. Please fix this. Reference ID KW63-WWP for the obituary for Ruth Williams Price.

Your ahead of me.
You say: currently it only searches parents, siblings, spouses, and children to display in the list. How do you do that?
When I encounter such a name, obits or census, I do the broadest meaningful search: fn, ln, dob. If nothing found that belongs to the person, I create a new person. If the person really existed it will show up as a possible duplicate. Until that happens the person record will have one attachment and no relationships. This causes no problems in anyone's family tree.
Alternatively, Dismiss the "unfinished attachments" hint. This should be done for persons that officiate, record, or enumerate.
Hope this helps.
This could also help in attaching "unfinished attachments". When it gets ridiculous just dismiss them. An example would be an obit that identifies "The step child of the deceased's great grand aunt.

@KayLynnMathews, as I explained in response to your idea (https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/comment/377555#Comment_377555), Source Linker can attach to distant relatives. You just need to keep changing the focus person until you get to the person you need.
@Douglas McPhaden, I think KayLynn was talking about Source Linker "searching", not any of the Search options. And I do dismiss the Unfinished message on people like servants or boarders whom I will never be able to identify (even if I wanted to, which I don't). I just don't want to have to repeat that effort on hints or notices or whatever the originating post was suggesting.
