Looking For Information
Hello there!
Not sure if anyone here could help me with this but it’s worth a shot. I am thinking that someone might have more resources than I do. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed here. In cleaning out our Mom and Dad’s garage, (one less thing we have to do before they pass), we found an old army bag. (My Dad originally found the bag when he was cleaning out my Grandma and Grandpa Emhuff’s house; they lived in Seymour, Indiana). Anyway, my sister Krista now has the bag. In looking through it, she found World War II memorabilia. She found a name: R. M. Otte, military - #NG23048014. She thinks he probably served in World War II, possibly World War I. We are trying to contact the family so we can get the bag to family members. I found a Ralph M. Otte who is married to a Geraldine. My sister talked to her, and that didn’t pan out. Can someone help me out here. Please feel free to private message me if need be.
Thanks!

Thank you for contacting FamilySearch. We have some military records you can search. You need to go to the Help Center, the question mark in a circle in the upper right in FamilySearch. Use the search term Military Records, perhaps World War II Military Records. There is a lot to search. Have you contacted the Army to see if they can help?
We wish you the best.

Another place to try would be the local American Legion or Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) organization. They may have a database that can be helpful, or directions on how or where to search. They may be able to give you birth dates, so you can locate R.M Otto's information here on FamilySearch, and be able to contact family members who added information to the person's record. The article link below may help at that point.
Good luck finding the family members.
