how can we find out a birth and prove it correct ? we have tried to find using all search engines. is there any other way we would be able to confirm, We have a marriage certificate but birth is alluding us ?? We have looked at census's too.

@sue c, birth records are a wonderful resource, but often are the hardest to come by. Your question is quite broad so that it is hard to provide an answer that might apply to your specific set of locations, date, and circumstances.

Without more detail, let me just mention a few sources that you might try. Besides a Birth Certificate, you might look for Baptism Records, Death Certificates, and Family Bibles. Census records can sometimes provide a good indication of a birth date; however, ages (therefore birth dates) often change from census year to census year. Marriage records sometimes may be helpful.

The key to "proving" a birthdate, like most other genealogical events, is to NOT rely on any one source, but a collection of sources.

If you were to provide some additional information to your question, such as location, general time frame (e,g,. 1900s, 1800s, etc) we may be able to provide a better answer. Usually, the more information that you provide, the better the answer that you receive.
