Split films? Partially lock films?
Is there any way to request a film be 'split up' or partially locked? so it's allowed to bypass laws preventing it being available for view?
Two films I wish to view 162311 and 72643 both include some dates up to 1942. Preventing them from being viewed due to (I'm guessing)100 year law? Instead of waiting another 21 years to view the marriages I need from 1700's...Can I somehow request they have the (already separate) section of 1846-1942 removed/moved to another film. Or simply have those pages locked?
Thank you,
Randy
Edit: looking it up, it's 80 year law for marriages. So just a year wait, but my question still remains...

FS has talked about splitting up films, but it seems they have no plans to do so in the near future. It may be several years until this feature becomes available.

Thank you. It would add more work for them. But would also open up so many more films!

There are some circumstances where films are split up, e.g. when you Search under Images, or there are Collections which are split with waypoints (hope that is the correct terminology), so obviously it can be done.
It would be nice if FamilySearch could start a service, if only on a trial basis, where you could request a specific film be given priority to be split up, in the same way it is possible to request that specific films be given priority for digitisation (noting that currently most films have now been digitised.)
