Merge by ID Number
I would like to surviving person to be KWCH-PQ1 - merge KWCH-PQ1 INTO LJ9F-TYJ - I have tried but each time no matter the order the remaining person is Lj9F-TYJ - Their is no switch option.

@MarshaS, Hi, and I am sorry that you are having problems merging these two individuals, in the manner that you would like, As you've indicated, thay can be merged in one direction, with the surviving person being LJ9F-TYJ, but not in the other direction.
When this happens, there are a couple things that you should look for; one is to look for duplicate sources in the person that should survive. In the case of Pearl Tenney (KWCH-PQ1), I see that the last source is duplicated, "Legacy NFS Source: Pearl Tenney - Individual or family possessions: birth: 12 January 1924; Thatcher, Graham, Arizona, United States."
You can detach either of the 2 duplicated sources by clicking, in Sources, View Source and then clicking Detach.
For completeness, you might want to check for duplicate sources in both versions of Pearl Tenney. I notice that, in the case of the LJ9F-TYJ version, there are several instances of duplicated sources.

When you have successfully detached the duplicate sources, try merging again. Please let us know if it now works for you.

There are times when certain features of a record constrain the merge order. Sometimes it is because the final record will have so much information that having all that information come from the record being archived will crash the merge so the surviving record has to be the one that starts with the most data. I wonder if the reason you cannot switch the survivor of the merge is because the one you want to survive has 5 memories and the one you want to delete has 109?
I have heard mention that FamilySearch has been working on efforts to require a merge to retain the record with the longest Change Log, on the assumption that it has a more complete history of the record. I don't know if that is in place, but comparing the Change Logs of your two individuals, that could be a reason for why you are forced to have Lj9F-TYJ as the surviving ID.
In any event, what you are seeing is likely a feature of the program that has good underlying rational, even if we can't see what that is.
Do be assured that it really does not matter which record survives. The final result of the merge will be the same. The ID in and of itself has no real meaning. There are some myths floating around in Family Tree user circles that in some way an ID number starting with KW is a person's "real" record, but those myths are not true.

@MarshaS, I am sorry that you were still not able to merge the two Family Tree records with Pearl Tenney (KWCH-PQ1) being the surviving person.
At this point, I believe that our best course is to pass this issue to specialty team for review and resolution. I will pass this issue to their review; thank you for your patience in this matter.

@MarshaS, I see that the two versions of Pearl Tenney were merged by FamilySearch over the weekend; however, it leaves the surviving person as LJ9F-TYJ. Are you satisfied with this result?

I went to both numbers and detached the duplicates but it still will not merge the way I want it to do.
