GROUPS area
In the GROUPS section - there are various categories (sub sections)
including the following:
General Groups
Rootstech Groups
Volunteer Groups
Research Groups
Latterday Saint Groups
FamilySearch Products and Tools
these groupings seem to be rather haphazard
i.e.
"Rootstech" only has one subgroup
"General" - is rather vague and seems to be applied inconsistently
"FamilySearch Products and Tools" - doesn't refer to a single FS product or tool
and it seems like certain categories that should exist don't - such as "Geographic based categories"
also some groups seem to be very stale and no longer used - shouldnt they be removed at some point if not used?
What support group maintains this area? How many different type of support teams are there? I figured it would all be under one umbrella.

Thank you for your comments and you are right some of the groups are not used to their full capacity. This is a new platform and will take time to get established. I am sure your comments will be noted. i will find the answer to the second part of your question shortly.

Im not so much saying that they are not used to their full capacity - but rather that some of them were set up for a certain purpose and goal - and that purpose or goal no longer exists.
In the previous community version - it was pretty easy for people to request that a group be created and that they be the group admin - but later on when they realized it didn't work exactly as they wished - many of those people who originally requested the group - gave up on its use.
Im referring to groups that were set up for a very unique special purpose and intent - for which such purpose no longer exists -
such as these two - for which the person or group - that originally requested it - literally gave up on its use:
