Correcting an index error
On https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS2Q-S3J6-Y?cc=2821281 The husband's name is Phoebus Marie Fincham NOT Phoelus Mare.. How do we correct this?
Go down to the record listing and hover the mouse over the left column (Image Index). A little page pops up, click on that. Then it takes you to the original document and index. Click on Edit. It will allow you to edit the names. The name that was indexed as Mare doesn't look like it has that "i" in Marie, so the indexer would only type what they saw. But, once you add the reason why made the edit on the provided form, most likely it will be accepted.0
That is one way to do it. The way that I described works based on the original poster's link.0
I wasn't suggesting "a different way." I was pointing out that not all fields can be edited.0
What clever people there are. Thank you Melissa and Aine. All done2
Glad you were able to fix Phoebus Marie Fincham's name!0
