I am trying to find information on my Great, Great Grandfather, Alexander (Alaxander) Pearl. I have a record of him attending his son James Pearl’s marriage in Makanda, IL in 1882. Alexander was listed in those records as married to Caroline Elkins. I cannot find information on Caroline or Alexander before and after that marriage. I estimated his date of birth between 1840 and 1845. Alexander may have worked for the railroad system from Southern Illinois to Chicago. Alexander or James may have also had a son named George. Other persons have connected another Alexander Pearl with their relatives, but the dates do not match. I can trace James to Cairo, IL and areas around Paducah, KY. So far as I can reasonably determine, Alexander begat James, James Begat John and John Begat John, my father.

Here's a suggestion - this article explains how to schedule a free, 20 minute virtual consultation with a research specialist at the SLC Family History Center.

Thanks for the info. I have had a consultation online and was told to trace Alexander’s son James. I did so, but that trail did not provide any new information on Alexander. He is hidden somewhere is some documentation which I cannot locate.
