Help with Rivers family genealogy
We have been researching our Great great grandfather William (John?) Rivers for over 20 years without success.
The DNA has provided some clues but still no definite answers. It is believed William Rivers was born around 1800 but no proof. He did marry Margaret Thomas in Limehouse London in 1824. Sadly, my brother who provided the DNA passed away recently, without knowing the outcome.
It is said that William Rivers was the son of Lord and Lady Rivers of Blackheath London but no evidence found for this.
It is interesting that our DNA appears in the Rivers of South Carolina USA. Our only YDNA match was unable to recall which Rivers were in the family which would have probably solved our search. Interestingly John David Rivers who arrived in the US from Prussia in 1808 may be a DNA match via the Beach families.
Does anyone have any interest in the Rivers? I know that many people have also been unable to find the parents of John David Rivers. It is said that he was a son of Sir Peter Rivers, London but we contacted the Cathedral and they believe it was impossible that his record was expunged by Sir Peter.
Does anyone have the time any inclination to help me? I have found that my aunt who lived and is buried in Logan Utah was related to some very early LDS pioneers fom England. She would have been thrilled to have known that. I have passed that information to relatives to verfiy.
Many thanks, from Australia. Please stay safe and well if you can.
