Searching for Daniel Shaver, Jr. born 1813 in Augusta County, Va died after 1863 in Rockingham, Va
I know Daniel Jr.'s parents were Daniel and Catherine (Michael) Sheffer. Daniel was married to Mariah Losh. Their children were Mary, Eliza, Joseph, James, Sara, Francis, and Eli. They were living in Rockingham, Va in 1860. Daniel last shows up on the tax records in 1863. Mariah and her children move back with her father, Daniel Losh. By 1880 Mariah and her children live in Lewis, West Virginia. Sara died, and Mary and James are missing from records. I'm trying to find out how and when Daniel Jr. died.
Thanks, Lori Celozzi

There are several answers to your query. We can assist you in your research techniques but do not have the staff to do the research. That we leave to you. Most new researchers stop after Search – Records because they were not successful. However, that search searched only the indexed portion of our data base which amounts to about 35% of our holdings. The second paragraph below are tips in searching that portion of our data base. The third paragraph relates to searching the other 65% of our records. The fourth paragraph introduces the Research Wiki. The fifth paragraph points out a link to a 20-minute virtual session with an experienced researcher in your area of research. Do as much as you can with this information before using the virtual session.
To make your searches in FamilySearch Search-- Records more productive here are some hints to improve your searching. Click on Help (circle with ?) and enter the keyword "tip" and then follow the suggestions in "What are best practices and tips for searching Historical Records?"
For the records which have not yet been indexed go to Search – Images. This list is constantly increasing because we have 300 teams who are around the world digitizing records and they upload those images nightly. They are minimally identified and have waypoints added then are made available to search at Search Images. We recommend that you again click Help and enter "Search Images" and follow the hints in "Tips for searching Historical Images?"
For other research tips and practices concerning the place you are searching we recommend the Research Wiki. Please click on Search -- Research Wiki and start with the larger place. There are many research techniques discussed on this page.
If you are up against a brick wall, we would suggest going to the Wiki and enter "Virtual Genealogy Consultations" for a 20-minute appointment with a research specialist who will analyze your research to date and make suggestions for further research. To make the most of this appointment please review and follow the instructions found in the Important Information paragraph.
We hope that these instructions help move you along your research pathway.
