Is the UK 1911 census incomplete on FamilySearch?
Hi. I have 2 instances where the 1911 census records appear to be missing from FamilySearch, but are present on Ancestry (and Findmypast). Names as transcribed in Ancestry.
Firstly, John Waller G7YZ-1VT and family in Birkenhead Cheshire.
John Waller 58
Mary Waller 54
Christopher Waller 23
James Waller 21
Fidelia Waller 18
Georgeina 18
Edward Waller 15
Amelia Waller 13
Lilly Waller 11
Secondly, Peter L Dempster LVHN-8H2 and family in Bootle Lancashire.
Peter L Dempster 35
Amelia Dempster 37
William Dempster 11
Peter Dempster 5
Alex Dempster 3
Walter Dempster 1
Thanks, hope someone can clarify.
Martin.

I did a search for their daughter Fidelia because she has a nice unusual name. I searched directly in Ancestry.com and found her in the 1911 census. I searched directly in Findmypast.co.uk and she turns up in the 1901 census and in 1913 getting married, but not in 1911 census. A search in FamilySearch finds her in the 1901 census but not the 1911 census.
I then discovered in the FamilySearch Wiki that FamilySearch.org uses the indexes and images from Findmypast.co.uk for the 1911 census. I guess this is an instance where sharing resources doesn't always bring the best results. But I don't know why the Findmypast.co.uk 1911 census misses her entry.

Hi Norm.
OK, that explains it.
Thanks for taking the time, I appreciate it.

To add to Norm's answer, the image for John Waller on FMP can be found at
Hopefully the link will work if you have an account there.
If you then click on related transcripts, you will find the name transcribed as Walter rather than Waller.
I have not checked but I imagine that a similar explanation applies to the other record you mention.

Hi Graham.
Excellent work, thank you!
I had the image and transcript already (I think from Ancestry) and the surname was transcribed correclty, so I aassumed the Familysearch record would have the correct surname. I was mistaken!
I shall keep trying with the other one.
Thanks again.
