Irish genealogy stumbling block...
My research on my father's direct descendants has hit a snag, mostly because of the lack of civil records that don't go further back than 1864. Unfortunately the parish records of Ballynakill, County Galway only go back to 1869. Any thought as to where I might investigate. My ancestor, John Baker, was born c. 1820 and died in 1904 but I would like find out at least the names of his parents !!
