How do I look up Scottish births from 1700's
I don't know where to look up, or how to look up, some of my ancestries from Scotland. I have managed to get as far as my 4th great grandfather Roderick (Rory) MacIntyre 1761-1845, but I can't find his father. The trail seems to go cold after that. Where should I be looking, to try and find this information out. Any help at all would be much appreciated
Thank you Catherine MacIntyre Hayes

We could help you better if you share a PID.

What is a PID?

PID is a person ID, the code on each person page on Family Tree.

Hi Is this what you mean G4L4-KN9
I have not added these people in question to my tree as of yet, do to the fact, that I can not find Roderick (Rory) Macintyre's father. I'm also trying to delete myself. I originally had myself and spouse added to my tree, but then decided to just have my family, and not include him. Now I am just there by myself without a spouse.....If any of that makes sense AT ALL lol
Thank you in advance for any help you can give :)

That looks like a PID. What is the PID for Roderick (Rory) MacIntyre 1761-1845?

I think this is it LZ8J-J8J

Yes, that looks like him. See his descendancy tree view, expanded to 4 generations: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/pedigree/descendancy/LZ8J-J8J
...and peek at the children's profiles by clicking each one in turn. Just one, Marion, has a source attached. So start with her. Standardize her birth place and date, and then use Search Records.
To use Search Records: Go to the person page, Details. From there, on the web, Search Records is in the right side of the page. If you don't see the right sidebar, make the browser window wider or look for a "hamburger" or "..." menu in the upper right. On the mobile app, there is a similar menu "..." in the upper right of the page. The menu has 2 pages.
Poking around briefly, I saw what look like several duplicate records for Marion MacIntyre and a husband Donald Johnson. Once you standardize her vital details, you likely will see all the duplicates. They may have more sources attached.
You are on your way!

Thank you so very much
Did you happen to see anything showing Roderick's Fathers name?

I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Late, last night (11:11pm my local time), when I saw you original post ...
I took a quick 'look' in the "ScotlandsPeople" Website; but, did not respond; as, I could not find any reference, to the Birth/Christening of a "Roderick (Rory) MacINTYRE" (or, variants) around 1761(±10 Years) in Scotland.
But ...
That Said ...
Just in case ...
Question: Have you, yourself, tired, the "ScotlandsPeople" Website?
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/
The "ScotlandsPeople" Website is maintained by the Government of Scotland,
By/through, the National Records of Scotland.
The website is FREE, to "Register"; and, "Search" the "Indexes".
The ONLY "Cost", is if one, wants a ("Digital") "Copy", of a Record.
The cost is quite reasonable.
I know that this may not help; but, I hope that this may give you another avenue to explore.

Many Church of Scotland parishes do not have records that go back that far. In fact none of my Scottish lines go back to before 1780 or so. A sizeable percentage of the population belonged to other religions, and not of those records can be found at ScotlandsPeople (though to be clear, ScotlandsPeople does have expanding collections of Catholic and non-Conformist records). Some of those records were either lost or are in private ownership.

There are the old parochial records for Scotland which you should find on Familysearch. They can be quite useful but don't always have everything
