Australia wills and probate
I need clarification on the instructions. This batch contains 8 images 4 cover the will of George Hindle and 4 for John Hogan. https://www.familysearch.org/indexing/batch/c909f79c-3914-4713-aedd-a2d3cc6ba999
Do I mark the witness statements in each set as no extractable information, as they contain no additional information?? Or do I make an entry for each image as they are part of the probate record. I have read the instruction but am not sure if one entry for each man is enough or if there should be an entry for each image that gives the information.
Still trying to learn. I am hesitant to push the button and go forward as I don't know how to go back to step one.

Hi Larry. I have been indexing and reviewing these too. It is a confusing project. But, looking over the project instructions many times, I have concluded that we just have to follow what is written and what is shown in the examples.
Breaking those down:
- Index all probate records, including wills and inheritance tax records.
- Do not index other types of documents, such as inventories, real estate or property information, or letters and correspondence about a will. If an image shows only these types of documents, mark it in Step 1: Images as No, NoExtractable Data
- Index only the will or probate cover page and the page of the probate or will on which the name of the deceased first appears. Any image that shows only additional pages of the same document should be marked in Step 1: Images as No, No Extractable Data.
- If a will and codicil appear on different images, index the name once for each image
On the batch you shared, I would index image 1 (will cover), image 2 (1st page of probate document), Image 3 (first page of will). I would mark Image 4 as No, NED (page 2 of will). I would then index Images 5 - 8.
I look forward to discussing this with others working on this project! The reviewing is really poor at 13% and I think it is because so many batches are having to go to second and third reviews. The instructions clearly say to index the cover pages AND the page of the probate or will on which the name of the deceased first appears. People are also missing the codicils when they appear on a subsequent page.
If you ever are indexing and need to go back to Step 1, just click on the box Step 2: Entries and it will allow you toggle back to Step 1: Images.
