I am in the UK and just traced a line back and it went back to the Greek gods!!, "Hera" for instance, surely this is a wind up and should not be allowed?

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

And, I have been using 'FamilySearch' (eg. INITIALLY, "New.FamilySearch"; NOW, "Family Tree") for Years.

I would not say it is a 'wind up'.

But, it is always worth, researching; and, verifying ...

What you have to understand is the basic 'nature' and 'premise' of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; as, being, a SINGLE "One" World "Tree", built on a "Open Edit" Platform.

As such, there is good; and, there is bad ...

It is a just a matter of 'navigating' you way through.

Question: How did you did you get onto the that particular "Ancestral" Line?

Thanks for the reply, my name is Cantwell, my grandmother was a Doubell, I followed the line by checking to see which branch went back the furthest, I have ended up with the famous "Queen Boudica" which surprised me to say the least. I then thought I would see how far this particular would go back down through history and to say I was shocked how far it went and who was there, when it got to the gods, I stopped, thinking surely this cant be correct, anyway I have decided to stop at "Queen Boudica" for now anyway.

Basically I can trace a line from me to Queen Boudica, I think thats enough for now, especially as my head hurts now!

Been there ... done that ...

I have (really, had) one "Branch", of one of my "Ancestral" Lines, that went ALL the way back.

And, I mean ALL the way back.

Unfortunately, with the move, from "New.FamilySearch", to "Family Tree"; and, the subsequent influx, of Users/Patrons, over 'Time', that "Branch" of one of my "Ancestral" Lines, has NOW been TOTALLY "Mutilated".

At one stage, a while back, 'FamilySearch', even had Missionaries, trying to 'Resurrect', all the DISCONNECTED links/connections, unfortunately, that did not eventuate, too far gone.

Such is the nature of the SINGLE "One" World "Tree", built on a "Open Edit" Platform.

Worse still, my DNA results, even supported, that original "Branch" of one of my "Ancestral" Lines.

    Oh hum ...

    So sad ...

Still, luckily, my ancestry, in "Family Tree" in 'FamilySearch', is so extensive; and, diverse, I have more than enough to keep me going.

Just, have fun; and, enjoy, what appears, in the little 'gems', they are few and far between.

Do not try to get too concerned ... just enjoy the journey.

    Good Luck.

    Brett

ps: It ain't an exact science ...

Thanks Brett, to make sure I dont loose all the hardwork, I have put this particular line on an Excel spreadsheet, but I can now say I have a family member that has a statue in the centre of London, with reasonable confidence?

Good luck with your journey and as you say it aint an exact science, but if I dont do it nobody will at least I made the effort to make a record, I am 73 and my daughter who is 47 didn't know who Boudica was, need I say more?

'No', you certainly do not have to.
