Hello @Dianne Bignell
The Support line is currently open for the Pacific area. The phone number is 1800-953-143.
In the Community forum, if you indicate that you have a question about ordinances, a Moderator will reach out to you in the Private Message area to get the details of the issue.
I will send you a private message. See the envelope on the top right hand corner of the screen.
best regards

Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...
Short Answer: 'No'. Definitely NOT.
FYI
That DIRECTION that you received after contacting 'FamilySearch' "Support" [ I presume either, via the Telephone; or. a "Live" ('On-Line') "Chat"] was INCORRECT.
You have every right, to have a matter, dealt with "Privately", with (and, by) 'FamilySearch' "Support", via/through either, the Telephone; or. a "Live" ('On-Line') "Chat", you are NOT required to use the "Public" nature of this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, if you do not desire (many Users/Patrons, who prefer not to do so).
IF, you prefer to keep the matter "Private", rather than broadcasting the matter in the "Public" nature of this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum; THEN, when you contact 'FamilySearch' "Support", via/through either, the Telephone; or. a "Live" ('On-Line') "Chat", you SIMPLY advise the 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) handling the mater, that you DO NOT wish to use the "Public" nature of this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum; and, that you want the matter dealt with "Privately", through that contact medium. 'FamilySearch' "Support" can, later, communicate with you "Privately" via/through, "Messaging" in 'FamilySearch'; and/or, direct "E-mail".
As an aside ...
HOPEFULLY, the "Moderators" [ ie. 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel) ] HERE in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, CAN use this particular post of yours; and, can TAKE this MATTER directly into the workings of 'FamilySearch' "Support", contacting and communicating, with your, "Privately", to help/assist you.
Furthermore ...
Plus, for future reference, if and when using this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum. you DO NOT need to provide specific "Details" [ eg. 'FamilySearch Identifiers (PIDs) ] of the individuals/person in "Family Tree: of 'FamilySearch' concerned, Just a very basic 'precis' of the matter; and, requesting the matter be dealt with, through DIRECT "Private" communications, between, yourself; and, 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Personnel). So that, other 'well meaning' Users/Patrons get involved.
I hope this helps, somewhat.
Brett
